Here's an interesting article about another possible SEC expansion.

Yeah it's been kicked around for awhile now that OU wants to go to the SEC and that they are joined at the hip with Ok State.

But it's not happening anytime soon as all the contracts and stuff have tied up all the b12 teams rights for the near future. I don't really know when the TV contracts are all up but I would think the B12 is not going out of business before that happens.

Also I'm not sure why the B12 will breakup after the 2018 season.

That's just a hypothetical "what if" article to fill pages during the summer. I'm guessing the writer wanted to look at how 16 would be divided up more than who the actual teams would be.
It's easy to shoot holes in the OK teams being the ones chosen. As Terry said they signed away all their TV rights so they aren't going anywhere for a good while. Also the SEC has implied if there is more expansion it will be one school per state. OU would be a candidate but no way OSU gets an invite. There aren't enough TV's to really justify OU,much less Ok St as well...

Please let this idea die. If we have to expand make it Ga. Tech, FSU, and/or Clemson. At least there is some connection there.

I would love to see Ga Tech back in the SEC. However I am not gong ho about FSU.

FSU ran as fast as they could from the SEC in the past and they can stay in the ACC.

I always thought the Big 12 was a great and strong conference and never quite understood them losing Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Texas A & M.

I probably understood the Aggies more than the others.

I don't know what the future holds for the Big 12 but there does seem to be continued discontent.

Bill I'm going to be an A-Hole here but there are those of us who would say FSU is as tough as anything the SEC wants to consider dishing out or maybe we could ask Clemson about it...Don't let your orange and blue shaded glasses sway your rational thought as you are one of the most rational people I have had the good fortune of communicating with on this board ...The ACC is not the red headed step child of the SEC these days and given the upward movement and bowl performances the SEC has much to explain if it's the premier conference (And I'm one of those who has)....

I haven't said much but folks Miami is going to compete this year and the next and the following along with FSU, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Clemson and others such as our cousin Notre Dame who may break out this year and win it all...Gone is the kneeling down before the SEC gods as other conferences stand up and show their talent...

As for "they can stay in the ACC" attitude that's fine with me because they are pretty bad to the bone and regardless we will find out early in the season with a little game against Alabama...There were many scenarios to conference realignment over the years and I don't agree that anybody has run away from the SEC, what they did was analyze the situation and make the best decision...

That being said kp may be right that FSU would fit perfectly into the SEC because of their location....I just don't see it happening anytime soon

I will accept your criticism and agree for the most part REC.

I should clarify my statement a bit. Back when the SEC was expanding the first time Arkansas was coming to the SEC and another team was needed. FSU was the logical choice at the time and everyone, including me, thought they were coming and I liked the idea. However Bobby Bowden did not want to compete in the SEC and took FSU elsewhere.

Miami was then approached and decided to go to the Big East instead, then we took S. Carolina.

After that the SEC has pretty well decided to not take teams from states where we already have a member.

So forgive my shot at the ACC and you are right they are a very good conference right now and I don't see any of them leaving for the SEC.

    So accept my apology.

Accepted humbly as I almost feel bad for my post now, this is why I hold you at such high esteem, nothing to apologize about.....

I didn't know about the FSU invite but do remember the one for Miami....Matter of fact you and I have discussed it before...I just can't imagine Miami being so urban ever making it work in the SEC but that was years ago and it would have been interesting that's for sure...

I really don't care about the argument about which conference is the best. We now pretty much get to settle that at the end of the season now. Clemson represented the ACC well so to the victors the spoils. I just don't want the SEC to expand again.

Well as far as the B12 goes Neb left because they hated Texas, Colorado left probably because they hated Texas but probably they longed to be in the Pac12 anyway. Texas A&M left because of the Longhorn Network and they hated Texas, I'm not sure about Missouri's reasons but I'm guessing they hated Texas.

All of those who left also probably make more money now as members of the Pac12, Big10 or SEC than they did when they were in the B12. I'm sure that also helped with their hate for Texas.

Terry I am not sure why there should be so much hatred of Texas. I probably understand how it came about from the Aggie point of view more than the others.

One thing about the SEC is that even though rivalries are strong and team fans hate other teams they still manage to come together for the good of the conference.

Anyhow I am not throwing stones, I am just happy with my conference.
