Well there certainly was some sorting it out this week.

    1. Manziel and Mariota from the Heisman race and Bryce Petty as well even though he'd never really gained much traction. To Kesley's dismay it is setup nicely for A.J. McCarron to win the Heisman. He has the games and the stage.

    2. The entire Pac12 from the BCS Championship Picture. Who'd have thought that back when Stanford and Oregon looked unbeatable. Oregon is esp head scratching. I wonder if the Duck fans are thinking that this wouldn't have happened if Chip were still here.

    3. Baylor from Cinderella back to scrubbing floors for their ugly sisters. Their Coach turned back into a pumpkin at 8pm...long before midnight! OK State looked awesome last night, Chelf looked like a Heisman candidate and Gundy inspite of his bad haircut has really got this team playing at a high level since that WVa loss. In retrospect how in the world did OK State ever lose to WVa? If not for that they would be right in the thick of the NC race.

    4. Michigan State just looks good, they are a much better team than the one that came to South Bend in Sept. I look forward to that Mich State/Ohio State game.

    5. What has gone wrong at Michigan? I heard that Tom Harmons ghost showed up at Schembechler Hall and asked for #98 back! :) I mean after the Notre Dame game I thought Devin Gardner was going to be an All American and a Heisman Candidate. I had heard that he was most likely going to graduate and go to the NFL instead of return for another year. He had visions of being a RGIII clone and 1st round draft choice. Oh boy did that not work out.

    6. Ohio State, the quietest 23 game unbeaten streak ever...happens right in the middle of a historic run by Alabama and nobody really notices. Braxton Miller an awesome QB is hardly mentioned anywhere, I do think being injured hurt him when he missed some games and it probably didn't help that the substitute played about as well (maybe better) than he did when he was in there.

    7. FSU and Alabama just keep rolling along, Alabama headed for a clash with a resurgent Auburn team at Jordan-Hare Stadium. FSU at Gainesville at one time probably was considered a huge game for them, now they just have to not trip over themselves on the way to the endzone...of course the Gators could regroup and stage a historic upset if the Seminoles come in over confident. Alabama will not go to Auburn over confident.

    8. Missouri good solid win vs Ole Miss...but the Aggies are up next and inspite of the whupping that LSU put on JFF and company I think the Ag's will be a dangerous matchup for Missouri. I don't think Missouri has the defense that LSU had last night. It should be a great game, Missouri has to win to win the SEC East, Aggies have to win to salvage the season, no way they want to finish on a losing streak. I'm going to pick A&M in a rebound upset.

    9. Duke? Really? Duke? Congrats to David Cutliffe, that guy has done a great job. I hope Duke gives him a big bonus and I hope he doesn't take another job.

    10. If there is another team more disappointing this year than the Gators it's Georgia who some had contending for the Nat'l Title. Aaron Murray was an all-american and Heisman candidate who came back for his Sr year instead of going to the NFL. No good deed goes unpunished...he left the field yesterday with a knee injury. That was the story at UGA this year, decimated by injuries.

    11. Notre Dame...Good solid win vs a good solid BYU ball club. I've never seen so much swirling snow without any of it sticking on the field. I thought we might see a field like you sometimes see out in the WAC or Mountain West games late in the season where you can't see the yard line markers. It's been a bitter sweet season.

    12. Texas...conviction is still very high that Nick Saban will be the coach next year, if not him then I don't know who to tell you the truth. Many Longhorn fans would love to see David Shaw but that seems even less likely than Saban, fervor for Charlie Strong has cooled, same for Will Muschamp. Todd Graham is considered a dick who shouldn't be allowed to wear the Burnt Orange. Dennis Franklin not exciting anybody right now. Tim DeRuyter name came up, can't believe it would come down to that. Saban or bust.

    11. Best Sign at ESPN Gameday at Stillwater....If you can read this sign you are not an OU fan!

    12. Next week senario that will warm Scott88's heart. Auburn beats Alabama, Michigan Beats Ohio State and the Gators win one for the gipper and upset FSU. BCS Nat'l Championship game is forked!! :) Oh and for Kesley, AJ McCarron is 12 for 38 with 3 picks! :)

So how do you see the BCS games sorting out? There are 10 games.

AQ Conferences will get 6 and either Fresno State or No. Illinois will get one that leaves 3. Most likely a 2nd SEC team will get one, that leaves 2. If Clemson beats So.Car. they will get one, but what if they lose? Need two more teams?

If Baylor wins out they could get one, I don't see a Mtn West team getting one.

Could the loser of the B1G Championship game get one? If it's tOSU they for sure will get one, if it's MSU maybe maybe not depending on if they play a close game or get beaten badly.

Interesting notes about this weeks rankings (AP)

Michigan State has played 1 ranked team and lost (ND)
UCLA has beaten no ranked teams and is still ranked
Texas A&M has beaten no ranked teams and is still ranked
ND has beaten 3 ranked teams and is barely in the top 25.

Here's an example of a rule I'd like to see changed to the NFL version. Petty would have scored in the NFL, and I'd like to see the NCAA change the rule to the NFL rule.

....like maybe the one in Gainseville? If Doug Dickey could leave Tenn and coach UF then an ex Tenn position coach can certainly come to Gainseville...

    6. If FSU doesn't crush Florida and Duke (or whoever), and Ohio State wins big over Michigan and then beats Michigan State, I have zero problem seeing the Buckeyes in the title game. People have, once again, declared the ACC once again to be strong just as they do every year and when you look back on it all... you have to ask, 'really?' Duke is one win away from playing in the ACC title game. I've said all year that the B1G isn't good, but I'm still not a believer in the ACC.

    7. LSU beat A&M because their DBs beat A&M's WRs. A&M doesn't have a defense that can beat you. They are one dimensional and LSU had the ponies to take that away. I don't think Missou's DBs are better than LSU's, but they do have a better pass rush. I agree with you that A&M is a dangerous team right now, but Missou has been overlooked all year yet they keep rising to the challenge. Lets not forget, if not for an epic Pinkel Pucker moment in the 2nd half, Missou is still unbeaten. They had whacked South Carolina all game long. They got away from doing what worked and allowed the Cocks up off the mat.

    11. Bittersweet is a good description. Injuries, players leaving and players suspended were the tale of this team. Even then, with all it had to overcome, this team lost some absolutely mystifying games. Look at who they beat and look at who they lost to this year. It's a head scratching experience, as I'm sure you know well.

A&M lost to LSU because JFF finally had an inaccurate day, combined with our OC not realizing what was going on.
LSU used the same defense Arkansas tried (albeit with better athletes) and we never tried our solution from that game.
They played a 5 or 6 man front, and took away the short/intermediate passing with the flood of defenders while spying the QB (who wasn't running anyway).
That leaves going deep (low percentage and even lower in the rain) or RUN THE BALL.
Our RB's had SIX carries so you see what we chose...
    Blah!

SO... we couldn't score our usual 40+ and that was that. Our "defense" wasn't going to stop them... although they did slow them somewhat... somewhat.

Ahh, the Pinstripe Bowl. What a stinker that will be. Rutgers absolutely reeks so we will stink simply by association if we are "sentenced" to a bowl in the Bronx.

Apparently this bowl is one of the one's we are most likely to land in in, assuming a loss to Stanford next week. Another option is the Pizza Bowl in Detroit, for god's sake.

    Beat Stanford.

#10. No team has had a more disappointing season than Florida. We have pretty much hit bottom.

    12. Why cooled on Muschamp? He was the coach in waiting. There are a lot of Gators right now who would be glad to see him to the plane. :) For the record I am not one of them. I still believe he can become the coach we want.

FSU, their QB is under a big Cloud with the rape charge. If indicted he cannot play for FSU until resolved. We could have a team in the BCS Championship without their star QB. If guilty I hope he gets nailed, if not the on with life. However under either scenario it will be hard to convict him in Tallahassee.

Auburn could beat Bama and we could have an Ohio State - FSU matchup for the BCS with FSU playing a backup QB.

FSU is going to put an epic beating on the Gators and we will be there for this one.

Bill, I heard this morning that Muschamp and Jimbo are pretty good friends, enough where they both own a condo together. I was thinking FSU might run up the score at first but I find that highly doubtful with this knowledge. I still believe FSU will win and by a fairly large margin but cannot see 70 or 80 points put on the Gators.

And who knows, crazier things have happened in rivalry games, the ball may bounce in the Gators direction.

The 1971 Gators had a losing record and had a miserable season but I was there as the heavy underdog Gators upset a highly ranked FSU squad. In 1979 a winless Florida gave a highly ranked FSU team all they could handle before finally succumbing in a close one.

So.... my prediction for Saturday is...... FSU 51 UF 3

Good Lord get this season over!!

Sorry the Gators managed to cheapen your win over UF back in September Ralph.

In retrospect though we still had many players on the field that day including the error prone Driskel that we did not have on the field this past Saturday so you and I know that was a decent win for the Canes even if the CFB world probably wouldn't give you much credit for it now.

I sure don't see Jimbo taking it easy on the Gators, he needs all the style points he can get to hold off Ohio State.

Ohio State will play Michigan and Michigan State.

FSU will play Florida and most likely Duke.

OSU has already closed a lot of the gap on FSU.

Nope he isn't going to take it easy on us, and I don't want him too. Like Steve Spurrier always said, it's up to us to stop the other team not up to them to take it easy.

Not an exact quote but the thought is right.

Don't worry...... the Little Sisters of the Poor would RUTS on us.

    FSU will do it blindfolded......

The Gator defense will cave in about the middle of the third quarter after holding the noles scoreless from the 12 minute mark of the first quarter.... having spotted the noles a 21-0 lead in the first 12 minutes like UF so enjoys starting games this year.

But after 2 quarters of giving a ton of effort and starting series after series on the UF side of the 50 yard line the defense will cave... give up.... and say "WTF.... I ain't gettin hurt and ruining my NFL career for Muschump and his band of weakminded coaches..."

    51-3 FSU....

Well Pat Haden is getting some input from old USC stars to hire Eddie O as the USC Coach. If they beat UCLA this weekend will he be able to resist the rising tide of support for Orgeron? I don't know if that will be a good thing or not. Coach O is a great recruiter no doubt, and an awesome position coach, can he surround himself with enough excellent coaches that he can't fail?

Or what if he turns out to have learned something from his time as the Ole Miss head coach and becomes Pete Carrol part deux?

    Stars for Coach O
