Miami Lack of Institutional Control Even though Miami has self imposed some sanctions, such as bowl games..they haven't given up any scholarships have they? In spite of Donna Shalala's plea that the Hurricanes have suffered enough and are sorry, they will have to lose scholarships, IMHO.
Hey, if you do the crime you do the time.... I have no problem with that, its unfortunate that the creeps at the NCAA are judge and jury with rules that would never hold up in a US court but at least everyone is judged by the same swine court called the NCAA....
That may be true but I have to honestly say that it appeared that the hammer used was a different size for different schools. As a Tennessee fan, I think the NCAA used a 12 oz ball peen hammer on us and Alabama got the 10 lb sledge. We just can't predict what will come from their investigations.
The NCAA methods seem to have caught up with them on this one. Miami may deserve a harsh penalty, but the NCAA methods will probably let them skate with much less. Lack of institutional control would seem to apply to the NCAA on this one and Miami has thrown down the gauntlet. This will be interesting.
Regardless of the NCAA's motives...The "U" has had it coming for quite awhile. Every member on this board knows that the Private college down in Coral Gables has been a breeding ground for the thugs of thugs in college FB that has transgressed their poison into the veins of the NFL. The University of Miami sold their soul a long time ago....and now Lucifer wants his payment.....   .....
how in the world can they cite Miami for a lack of institutional control when the NCAA itself showed a lack of institutional control in their investigation? Shalala has basically already told them to kick rocks. I don't think this is going to go well for the NCAA if Miami and Louisville tell them to go smoke a pole. AJ, Agreed.. we all 'know' but what you know and what you can prove are always 2 different things. I defended Alabama tooth and nail when they got busted. It's not that shady things weren't happening, but the NCAA bribed, intimidated and lied their way through the whole thing and then dropped the house on them. Watching ND go through the process gave me an entirely different perspective. No offense to Ralph, but no one would honestly blink if the U got hammered. I don't even think Ralph would be surprised. But it's the precedent.. when the NCAA can make it up as they go along, selectively punishing some while wrist slapping others as well as manufacturing or obtaining tainted evidence.. well, we can't cry when it's us if we don't scream for all.
What Corey said! Alabama was guilty of some of the stuff that was alleged, but secret investigations, anonymous witnesses, and some just made up stuff violated the NCAA's own rules. Then, in my own humble opinion  , the punishment was too severe for the crime. Then it took them years to do anything to USC, and that appeared to be an open and shut case. Something needs to change.
I agree with Corey and have felt that way about the NCAA since 1984 when the Gators were hammered and then again in 1990 when we were sanctioned again. Cory has it right, it's amazing how many people bought off on what the NCAA was doing until their program got hammered. But feelings or no feelings I think it is very likely that this ends badly for the NCAA and it is good that a lot of their methods are getting more widely questioned. I hope they take a good long look at their methods as we need a body to regulate. But regulate fairly and honestly.
I agree.....that should USC be in the same scenario...EVERY swingin' Irish dick on this board would be shining up their best torch to take to the party.....what makes me any different? Ralph knows this isn't personal....between he and I at least....
Well most Irish fans think the NCAA screwed us over on the chick who was dating football players while embezzling from her company to support her habit.
