I'm hearing that there is now some cash payment thing involving 2 payments of $10k to Brown's rep that will cost him his eligibility at UT forever. What the hell is going on here?
if you followed my twitter you'd have been reading the back and forth between the author and i for 2 hours now There is suppose to be more coming soon. We'll see. I am skeptical. The guys running this site have pretty damn good UT ties though. Bryce Brown
Just did a search on Bryce Brown and found nothing new being reported. This is the last article I found dated today: Bryce Brown
yup. I made the point of asking specifically if this is outside, or at least on top of, his 'fund raising' efforts for football camp. They confirmed that it is. I gave you the link above. I'll probably call the author here in a minute.
10-4, my handle is CoreyOConnor It's not real hard to find My evil profiles though... those are well hidden.
If you see above where it says bryce brown, there is an article linked to it with this url http://www.thebestdamnpoll.com/site/DesktopModules/TBD_NewsTeaser/tabid/177/default.aspx?articleType=ArticleView&articleId=147 I think they are sticking their necks out on this one, but it's their site.
According to Sportsline KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee freshman tailback Bryce Brown will not be punished as the result of an NCAA investigation into his eligibility. The NCAA was reviewing whether money was improperly raised for Brown to visit colleges during his sophomore year of high school. Coach Lane Kiffin received word during the Volunteers' Wednesday practice that Brown had been cleared. Kiffin says the NCAA was considering a four-game suspension and a hefty fine as punishment for Brown. The coach says he talked with the NCAA and Brown wrote a letter to the organization pleading his case. Brown Cleared
If you've followed my posts from the get go on here, I have held that this crap about fund raising for camps was a non-issue and a pandora's box if opened. I've asked them and have made it clear. This is a separate issue that has to do with his 'handler' receiving cash payments from an agent. It would be a quite similar situation to what happened with Bama's OT before the Sugar Bowl. Still, I am guessing that if it works out to be true that the dude took money from an agent to promise to steer Brown to him at a later date, it will be an almost untouchable Reggie Bush like case. It's REALLY hard to prove this stuff. The posted clearance has to do with the camp/fund raising stuff. This isn't the same thing. Klink publishes and writes for that site but they have a staff made up of people from all around the country. What should be of concern to you guys is that the person behind this story works in the UTAD.
In a way, I agree with their comments. Until a few are pinpointed to make examples out of, there will be more and more Butlers trying to make a buck off of these kids.
I spent a while talking with my buddy last night (3am I think). I understand the predicament he is in. His source at Tennessee is just about as close as one can get to the situation. That being said, I've been trying to temper his rush to publish this just because I have seen many, many situations in which something appeared or even should have happened, but did not. He will know more by noon today. I am guessing that nothing comes of all this. I will say that after hearing the 'other side' behind this process... that by all accounts, My Brown is a nice young man. He's got a major problem though with that adviser... If I were a betting man (which we have established that I am not so as to not jeopardize any future NCAA employment), I'd venture a guess to say that his 'mentor' did, in fact, take the cash.... and I am leaning towards the belief that he did.. you're still going to have a helluva time pegging this on Brown. I feel for ole Klinker on this one. If you guys want, feel free to add him. Great guy...GREAT guy. Had a rough go of things lately. I think he's a GIS dork, err guy.. B*tch ex-wife ran off on him for a nancy boy.. laid off by former employer and rather than sit on his arse, he's launched a few sports related businesses. He's got good connections but he likes to keep things fun.
