Last home game as member of the National League was played last night in Houston against our hated enemy from up north...the St. Looey Cardinals. Ah we've had many a memorable battles with the Cardinals in what is now called Minute Maid Park. It felt good to say good bye with a 2-0 win last night. I don't think anybody around here is excited about going to the American League, in fact nobody around here is very excited about the Astros. But that of course is because we are so bad and are rudderless to say the least. I'll miss the Cubs, the Cardinals, the Dodgers, the Mets, the Braves, the Reds and all the rest. Good bye...see you in inter-league play next year...well at least some of you.
Doc, The emotions of the whole thing are affecting me also...I can't believe we lost that game either... Ahhh WTH, maybe in a few years we can meet again in the WS.
Terry, I sympathize with you. I can't imagine living in the home city of a MLB team and cheering almost 50 years against its rivals, only to have the rug pulled out from under you. For me, going to the AL is like being banished from real baseball.
I can't decide who will be my NL team going forward. I'd go Cubs because of Samarzdja, but do I really want to be a Cubs fan? The Cardinals might make more sense.
You can't go wrong either way, but your hopes for a World Series appearance would be better with the Cubs.........NOT!
Interesting, Bill. Let's look at this. This year, the Astros are the worst team in the NL, followed by the Cubs, Rockies, and Marlins, in that order. If Terry wants to cheer for a perennial NL loser, I would think the Cubs have the edge. Unfortunately, as bad as the Marlins are this year, they just aren't bad enough to warrant Terry's support.
Doc, Let's look at this from a championship angle. (1) ND, Texas, Houston haven't filled the "Winners Cup" for you lately...7 years since you had ultimate braggin' rights I think? (2) Cubs?...Marlins?....misery loves company, sounds like a bad party to me. (3) The Cards have been a Feather in your ass, so to speak, so personally I would suggest you use that feather to your advantage and learn to fly with the rest of the Redbirds on their way to back to back WS WC Champions...just a suggestion. (4)
Yeah I think I'm going with Cards AJ, when will you send me all the information including the secret handshake? I just couldn't consider a NL East team and although I was a Dodger fan in my youth, I couldn't root for any L.A. based team at this point.
