I wound up taking a steering wheel to the face. Actually, I took the steering wheel directly to the teeth. I've got a back issue as a result of the accident, but I start physical therapy on that soon. The baby was fine and that's all that really matters. The driver at fault made a left hand turn (illegally) into oncoming traffic that smashed into him and then pushed him into me.

This was April Fool's Day btw.. the worst day to get in a car accident because no one believes you.

Anyway, my wife showed up on the scene later on, worried as wives do. She kept saying that I had to go to the Dr and that I had to go to the dentist. She kept saying it with such conviction and I felt fine other than the twinge in my back, which was growing worse by the minute. I bought into the Dr thing, but I finally asked her why she was so sure I had to go to the dentist. I found that an odd thing to say.

It was then she pointed out that my front left tooth was literally broken in half. I felt like I was talking with a lisp, but thought it was just adrenaline and that it was in my head. One quick poke around with the tongue and sure enough, the wife was right.

I contacted my dentist, who is a raging idiot (this is my fault). Long story short, he won't say the tooth was broken as a result of the accident because "For all I know, your wife could have hit you in the mouth with a bat, or you could have broken it eating mashed potatoes the night before. I only know what walks through my door."

This is the same asshole that did an extraction on me 2 years ago. He's one of those cross fit wanna be tough guy types. After the procedure, he told me that pain meds weren't needed and all I needed was saline solution. I have a rather high pain tolerance and I was suffering for a week until that hole closed. Meanwhile, my other friend had the same procedure at a different dentist. He walked out with a few simple pain killers to last a week. He had a wonderful recovery. I knew then that I needed a different Doc to replace Captain Crossfit, but I didn't do it.

Anyway, my lawyer is absolutely livid and anything we do from here on out appears to be doctor shopping. So, I'll pay to have the crowns done and hope the insurance pays it.

    ps
Did you guys know that lawyers, tow yards and rental car companies absolutely hate All State because they are notoriously cheap and will fight it out over a dime? I didn't either.

Gees Corey, hope you make a full recovery and Mr. Crossfit has himself as a client.

thanks. I'll be fine. It's just crazy how much out of pocket I will be and I didn't do one single thing wrong. Hopefully, the lawyer makes it right in the end.

    Wow!
Glad you (somewhat) and the Baby are ok.

I know a little about breaking a front tooth in half, I managed to do it twice before I was 13.
Make damn sure your new dentist checks all your front teeth for damage that might not be as obvious. Mine didn't and it got real ugly years later.

Thanks Scott. I believe I'm headed for a few root canals and crowns. I might be looking at a whole new grill. Maybe I should get one of those rapper grills? :p

Sorry to hear about your problems Corey, I hope you find a new DDS who you have confidence in and get the proper treatment. I'm not sure why the dentist won't help you out, when somebody walks into my office and has a broken tooth and tells me how he did it, that's what I write the chart.

If some ins company asks me to confirm that is how it happened, I just tell them how the patient presented and the history that was given. I can't tell them I witnessed the accident.

Hope your back gets better, they are harder to fix than broken teeth.

Hope you have a speedy recovery Corey.

America's healthcare system is so broken you don't really understand how broke it is until you actually need healthcare.

High deductibles, monthly premiums and out of pocket expenses are keeping us all broke, in debt and with smudges on our credit report.

Only the rich and politicians are basically unaffected because the former aren't phased by such mundane expense and the latter have virtually free healthcare.

    It sucks.
