5.3 million votes second only to Ken Griffey Jr in 1994. Probably a greater achievement because you can vote for 3 outfielders and only 1 at 1st base. So in Houston Big Al lost votes to Berkman, same in Philly, etc. While an fan can vote his fav OF and still have votes left for legitimate candidates like Griffey.

I notice the complete lack of Astro pitchers on the roster, no secret that is what is keeping us down at the bottom of the NLC.

BTW, I was thankful that we finally scored on San Fran, I thought maybe we'd be shutout for the whole series...wonder if that has ever happened before.

I do not disagree at all that Pujols deserves the recognition. As long as his name stays clear of steroids rumors, he will go down as the greatest player in this generation and, if he keeps it up, he may go down as one of the top 5 greats ever.

I disagree with you on the argument that his votes total is a greater achievement than Griffey in '94. I grant you your argument about 3 OF spots vs. 1 1B but fans couldn't vote up to 25 times via internet in '94. I still think Griffey's achievement in '94 is far greater. In the end, we're arguing about a fan's vote though so it probably isn't all that relevant anyway. Congrats to a deserving Pujols having an incredible season and incredible career.

I forgot about the internet, a whole new way of stuffing the ballot box. You're probably right in that case.

Was it really any different than when they used to give you the punch cards at every stadium across the USA for 30-Days out?

Or do they still do that?

Well in those days only the fans at the stadiums got to vote, there was not a way to vote online. But now fans anywhere in the world can vote, which is why Yao Ming in his first season of the NBA was the starting center over Shaq. If it were Lance Berkman Yang and he was from Shanghai instead of New Braunsfels Texas he'd have 8 million votes! :)

Pujols is on my fantasy team for about the third time. He's having an unbelievable year and strikes me as being quite a good person to boot.
