Hope everyone gets what they want. Unless it's also someone the Gators want that is. Due to a couple of guys grades the Gator class may not be as large as we once thought. However we already have 12 guys in school as early entries plus the QB transfer from Purdue. At one point it looked like we could, and would, sign close to 30 counting the early entries who can could back to last year. Not all of them do count back but 7 do. Anyhow a class of about 25 - 26 looks like what we will get now. Good luck to the rest of you.
Notre Dame: Barring some surprises I think we'll have a good solid class, one where we got the OL's that we wanted, and as always it starts with good lines. So I"m excited about that, we also got some good WR's and if we get Demitrus Robinson we'll have a great class of WR's. Probably come up short in the numbers for LB and miss on the top 3 targets. Probably won't be a top 10 class after all the other schools complete their classes. But more like top 15. Bottom line is this class will be good and we should continue to be a challenger for top 10 status on the field, but it won't be the type that will propel us up to the level that Ohio State and Alabama are currently at on the field. Texas is expecting to finish pretty well, but way below the standard set by Mack Brown. But given all the turmoil around the program as to whether Charlie Strong will last another year, It's not surprising. Maybe inside the Top 30.
So a lot of Notre Dame fans have been wondering why Lou Holtz was going to be participating in the Michigan Signing Day festivities. Well here's the rest of the story, and as usual Lou is doing the right thing for the right reason. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2016/02/02/lou-holtz-michigan-signing-day/79698570/
Thanks, Terry. It's a great story and typical Lou Holtz. It kind of changes my opinion of Jim Harbaugh....a little.
ND <r>Signing day tomorrow. This day use to get me really excited but it just isn't the same as it was in days past. Don't get me wrong I also enjoy seeing what appear to be great prospects sign with ND but the way things have gone the last few years for all NCAA teams...I'll just wait till they show up for the first practice of the fall to get really enthused. <E></E></r>
Tim, you might wait until they start classes. I recall a WR from Fort Wayne (can't remember his name) who left after one or two practices. Also, didn't Greg Olsen's brother, a QB, do the same thing?
I am pretty sure this is correct. I remember when it happened. Steve Spurrier gave a lot of help to Lou Holtz to get his wife into Shands Hospital at UF to get her treatment. Spurrier and Holtz have been close through the years and as I recall Holtz recruited Spurrier as his replacement at S. Carolina when he retired. Lou has always been one of my favorites.
All the Irish eastern time zone recruits have signed. Article in this morning paper said Texas could really jump up in the rankings if things go well today. Texas picked up 4* Rb from Houston area last night, so unless he changed his mind over night it's a good start. USC not seemingly getting its usual big haul. Some predicted hiring Helton was ho hum, maybe that's the reason.
Urban Meyer keeping an eye on Jim Harbaugh's recruiting tactics... http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14700048/urban-meyer-eyeing-jim-harbaugh-style-recruiting-stunts-no-plans-copy-them
Ohio state has signed 25 and probably will be one the top three classes, depending on whom you look for class rankings. I think we have an excellent class and have filled in where needed after losing so many to the NFL draft. Haskins, a flip from Maryland at QB, has to be one of the better ones.
Haskins is probably the top or one of the top dual threat QB's. I never understood why he went with Maryland in the first place. Ohio State recruiting has been top notch for a long time now, JT always had top rated classes and while it sometimes seems like how could things get better, they have under Urban.
Texas is closing very strong today, and they could possibly vault in to the top 10...Charlie had an excellent class last year and this one could be just as good. At one point it was looking like we wouldn't even make the top 25, now maybe all the way up to top 10. Now if Charlie can just hold on this next year to get a chance to coach these young kids as Jr's and Sr's. If he can say get to 8-4 next year, that will keep his mo going and could set up things for a return to greatness in 2017.
247 Composite has Ohio State currently #1, and Alabama #2...but Alabama only has 19 kids listed and they will be getting some more and I'll be surprised if they don't end up #1. ND hanging on at #10 with Texas barking up our rear at #11 and they have some more kids coming so they will pass us up to make it into the top 10. Quite a move on signing day by Charlie Strong.
Only 3 Pac12 teams in the top 25 lead by Stanford at #13 currently, UCLA #14 and USC #18. Big 12 also not many teams. Texas, Baylor, TCU and OU all in the top 25 but only Texas has a shot at the top 10. The silver lining is that these are great classes for TCU and Baylor who are never even close to the top 10. OU used to be a regular top 10 along with Texas.
Bama made their move and now are #1. 2. FSU 3. LSU 4. Ohio State 5. Ole Miss 6. MIch 7. Georgia 8. Clemson 9. TEXAS 10. Fla 14. ND. http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/CompositeTeamRankings
