Purdue getting no respect at all. Solid 2nd place in B1G and we're a bubble team? Who are these experts? What have we got to do? 2 wins against Indiana, one against OSU, one against NC State, a close game against Wisconsin. Sick of hearing bout our two early losses to 2 lowly teams. Ancient history. Committee is in love with RPI while our BPI and Sagarin rankings are much higher than our RPI. How about talking about our last 10 games? These morons have Indiana, OSU, MSU, and even Iowa logged in above us. Oh, well...I really have no problem with winning our way in...that's how it should be...but for everybody.
ND <t>I sympathize with you on this one Stu. Not much of anything about college basketball interest me much anymore. The tournament size and one and done stuff has really spoiled it for me. I mean, it's like, who even cares about the regular season anymore? The NBA gets all the talent before the players can be endeared by fans like myself and then you never hear from them again. Sad, especially from a formerly proud IU fan like myself. Sad. March Madness means nothing to me anymore. Let's just forget the sixty something teams we let in now, let's just throw everyone in!!! Might as well huh? <br/> <br/> I'm ready for spring football. I have to wonder how it will take until we are one and done in college football too. I guess I'll just enjoy the only sport(NCAA Football) I have left and truly enjoy for the time being.</t>
I hear ya Tim. And I fully understand how hard it must be for you to sympathize with a Purdue guy. Lol.
It seems like they used to start "bracketology" about now, but recently it seems like they start bracketology after the first weekend of the season. Texas has struggled since about the 10 or 11th game of the season, but even after going on a losing streak the Longhorns weren't really described as a bubble team when it appeared to me that not only were they on the bubble but they were probably out completely. Today's loss to KU most likely to be followed by another loss to Baylor at home will spell NIT at best.
Longhorns showed some fight last night, really some fight. There was a bench clearing brawl late in the game which got 7 Baylor and Texas players ejected for leaving the bench area. Longhorns won in OT. If they beat KSU in their last game and win a B12 game or 2 they'll be in the dance. Saving Rick Barnes job, maybe.
While I sympathize with you Stu I would much prefer being where Purdue is than where the Gators are. 14-15 with two games to go, one at home against Texas A&M who is 20-8 and clobbered us when we played them in College Station and the other with Kentucky who as we all know is unbeaten. We are likely to have a losing record this year and not win 20 games after a long streak of 20 game seasons. There are even rumors of the NBA going after Billy Donovan. Well so much for my whining. I don't see Purdue as a bubble team and wish you well in the playoffs. I will be needing someone to watch as the Gators aren't going. I have always loved this image, my slide rule is still in my desk, so I may have to adopt Purdue.
I had several slide rules and wasn't even an engineer!! I had a Post which was made out of bamboo with a laminate over it, and a K&E which was steel. The K&E I had a big one probably 12 inches complete with case that would fit on your belt if you wanted and a pocket version. Back in my day if your work flow was correct, you didn't have to be exact with your final result...allowed for some vagaries in reading the slide rule.
Lunnardi has Purdue and Cincy in a play in game in the West Regional ...just thought Stu would want to know!
Bill, since Donvan left for the NBA and then over night changed his mind, I wonder if he'd leave now on the heels of one of his worst seasons at UF? Haven't injuries really hampered the Gators this year? I don't follow basketball recruiting very much other than the note that every year Kentucky and Duke seem to own the best players. Has recruiting gone well for Donvan the last few years? If not, any idea why?
The term Bracketology is yet another mindless product of a Damien High School guy. I listened to him basically mock the Pac12 conference as 'the conference of champions' to Bill Walton, who kindly mocked the hell out of him before launching into a back and forth with Kareem about the **** job Alford is doing... Ahhh UCLA hoops.
8) I think I sold my slide rule to one of the nerds after I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Like my wing-tip shoes, I told my mother I lost it... ......Not Everyone at Damien is a Rocket Scientist.......JO'Co
Gators did beat Texas A&M last night, I watched part of the game. The Gators looked pretty good to me, but I doubt if the game did much to either teams chances. Gators probably have to win the SEC tournament to get into the NCAA.
Aggies commit 16 turnovers and Daniel House goes 0-10 from the field. We're never going to have a good day when that happens... Congrats to Bill and the Gators. Assuming the Aggies get revenge on the Tide in our last game, I'd say were safely "in"...
They would have to win at Kentucky then at least make the SEC Final to have a chance.... or win the title as you say. The committee I think would take in to account all of the last second.... and in one case ( FSU ) strange losses....injuries and suspension on top of injury.... But still..... they would have to win all remaining games except that SEC Final to merit any consideration.
There is a video up of a foul in the Penn State/OSU game from last night where a PSU player is on a break away for a dunk and his teammate was trailing him, the Ohio State player clearly shoved him from behind as he chased the PSU player with the ball...they called a foul on the Penn State player. Negated the dunk by the PSU player, don't think it had much to do with the outcome but it was a terrible call and you have to wonder what the hell the ref was thinking. https://vine.co/v/O0F2d0tOzMq
Well Wisconsin sealed the deal in the B1G tonight...Frank The Tank probable College Basketball player of the year.
