Scott, This new revenue sharing idea is going to be an ongoing parade of huge money deals. When the B1G Ten renews its contract with New York Market share, it will rival what the SEC is currently enjoying. Fans will be paying an ungodly amount for tickets.
Sooner or later the rubber is going to meet the road with ticket prices. People will only pay so much. I think last year a couple of storied programs had their sell out streaks snapped.
Don, The BIG will surely get a "raise" now that the model is proven. I could argue I already pay an ungodly amount for tickets!
My only cooment on the LHN is that my friends who are UT fans and can actually get the LHN really like it. But no doubt it has not turned out the way that Deloss Dodds thought it would.
How'd I get a double post before and after Terry?!?! I got skillz!! 8) Terry, for you guys I'm sure it's great. But to sell a single team on 24hrs a day to the rest of the world? Even ND didn't try that.
Along with what George said, a few years ago the Gators had a long streak of sell outs, there was a long waiting list for season tickets and you couldn't get a season ticket without shelling out a few thousand dollars for a contribution in addition to the ticket. Tickets like mine were grandfathered in to some degree and my booster fee was only several hundred $$$$. Last year the sellouts ended and this year season tickets are still available. We are considering letting ours go back next year, but our age and not being willing to travel to Florida as often, especially driving down one day, attending the game the next day and then driving home on day 3. The 52" HD TV and the SEC network play a part also. But having some grandchildren in school there now is a consideration also.
Bill, yours is what I call a "nice dilemma." You may keep your tickets if you wish, and you'll get to see the grandkids....or.....you can let go of them and watch the games via the SEC Network on your big-screen TV. Either way, you win.
