In head to head matchups, all time for all bowl games when the teams were members of their respective conferences. SEC - 31 wins Big 10 - 17 wins That's a .646 winning percent for the SEC. Must be because all bowl games are played in Knoxville and Gainesville and Athens. I think they allow the Big 10 about 500 tickets for these things....just ask Gipper.

 The Big Ten and the Pac 10 only went to one bowl game before the 1970's: the Rose Bowl. Notre Dame didn't go to ANY bowl games from the 1920's to the 1970's. The Southern schools didn't want us down there anyway, because our teams were racially integrated...
Actually these numbers I posted AJ were for schools as Big Ten members so what is the PSU record in bowls vs. the SEC since joining the Big Ten?
Does it really matter? Without looking it up they are at least 3-2. Like Corey posted, it's the last 3 that really count. Beyond that it's ancient history and gone are the days when Florida or anyone can just line up and wack a MAC team. Parity has caught up to college football as weight training is more equal throughout the Div1A landscape. There is more emphasis on coaching today than ever.
I agree the Big Ten is better top to bottom than say 20 years ago. PSU under Joe Pa is one of the best bowl teams around and I would venture the Lions have the Big Ten's best overall bowl record by a country mile.
Mo, I'm afraid Joe's best days are behind him. His philosophy is a litle too conservative and his track record at developing QB's is abismal. What PSU did for the Big 10 is made several teams better by opening up the recruiting gates to PA & NJ, sharing the wealth and forcing PSU to VA,SC and MD. Other than Iowa, NJ never sent kids to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois and MSU. I should make a list of all the star players and starters these teams captured.
