Obviously the writer of this article doesn't understand that the people of Alabama think of this game as a scrimmage....nothing to get excited about even if the rest of the country might just take a peek: http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20100720/ARTICLES/100719486/1136?Title=SEC-games-No-1-Florida-at-Alabama
Shocking that a Gator sports site declared a UF game as the game of the year in Alabama. BTW: nobody said it wasn't a big game, but they said that the rivalry game with Auburn was always going to be the biggest game on the Alabama schedule. Heck I've been getting the Paul Finebaum podcasts the last week and seems like half the callers have some comment on the Alabama/Auburn game and I haven't heard one caller ask about the Fla/Alabama game. But no doubt to people around the country as they start looking at what are the big games will have UF/Alabama as one of the top games. Of course both teams have to hold up their end of the bargin if it's a couple of 1 or 2 loss teams playing at that point then it's not such a big game. But that's true of any designated big game. Even Neb/Texas which I think has captivated more national interest than the UF/Bama contest.
If all are undefeated I would put Bama-UF up against Neb-Tx for national fan interest.....primarily because it will be a battle of most likely top 3 teams by then....like #1 vs. #2 or #3. And I agree....people in Alabama would rather just cut the lawn that day... or head down to the catfish pond. 8)
KP....the reason I browbeat this is because of the grief I took that was trotted out here a couple of months ago when I dared to suggest this was a big game....nationally at least if not in the great state of Paul Bear Bryant. I have accepted the fact that Bama fans such as yourself look at it as a Vandy type game.......so be it.
That's OK Kp..... I am trying to spread a vicious rumor around the Florida campus and the Gator athletic community that Alabama's fans and teams just don't think too much about playing Florida this year.......sort of an annoyance on the way to what is a slam dunk back to back NC....
So this has replaced that angst you felt when living in Michigan, that those folks thought UM should play OSU in the 2006 BCS championship game and not UF?
Not sure how that relates Terry. No real angst....just a desire to debate when a point I have made is summarily refuted when there is evidence to the contrary. 8) Now the Michigan thingy in 2006......yeah you could call that a little angst mixed in with the debate.
