My SEC East sleeper is the lead topic in this article on the SEC from Dennis Dodd of CBSSportsline.com and that is the Gamecocks of SouCar. I saw in person LSU and SouCar last season and that Cock defense I witnessed give the eventual NC all they could handle is the real SEC deal. They were a seasoned, tough and physical bunch on defense. SouCar will be a handful for any team in the SEC East and UF must go to Columbia and that looms as a possible SEC East showdown in my book. http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10314168
USCe returns 10 of their 11 starters on defense ... which was ranked in conference #9 run #8 pass #8 pass eff #9 total #6 scoring With that sort of experience returning, expectations should be for marked improvement. However, just noted one of their starting S was arrested for possessing a gun on campus and has been suspended by the university.
What I saw in SouCar last year was that the team seems to be taking on Spurrier's personna....his confidence. They were not intimidated and I could sense they felt they should win. That's a SouCar team quality I have not seen.
LOL, It's time for the mighty chickens to strut their feathers. Had Mark Richt not given up the offense I might be worried. Bobo going to give Spurrier a little bit of pay back. What the hell was Spurrier thinking when he took that job? As for Stafford, He can take care of that defense. He's a man among boys. I can't think of a QB I would rather have? Not even the highly rated Clausen kid.
Against the ganecocks in Clumbia, LA-Lafayette ran the ball for 252 net yards on 47 atts. I suspect Spurrier is a bit disappointed with that sort of run defense.
Until proven different I tend to agree with Tailback. Georgia wins this weekend. But I have to remember that Spurrier seems to save his best game for us.
252 yards? Wow.....Spurrier cannot be happy with that and Richt would love to have that to complement Stafford.... This may be harder than I thought...
I didn't see the USC game but watched UGa defeat OSU. If I had to bet, I'd go with Uga as they seemed to be a team ready to play.
MCG, You might be on to something. The Vegas line is really moving torwards SC. I'm nnot sure where it opened, but I thought I heard 6 1/2. Maybe it was 5 1/2? Anyway, Now it's 4 1/2. Big money likes Spurrier.
They were on to something. I'll stick by comments. SC sucks. UGA sucks worse. I expeted that. Richt needs to go.
