Now that USC has released Seantrel from his committment, Ohio State has not shown much interest in him. Maybe due to his father's involvement? Miami had recruited him heavily as well. Rumor is that he is currently overweight and not ready to play fall football. Any word from Miami Ralph?
I just find it ironic that Kiffin abandoned Tennessee to go to a program destined to see the heavy hand of the NCAA drop on it and then have members of that program defect to Tennessee. A fitting end to the new Franchione.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Henderson. There has been much speculation that his dad has his hand out and that he also (the dad) thinks of himself as an aspiring Rap Star so much so that USC brought in Snoop Dogg and there was some sort of arrangement made so that Snopp would get the dad into the Rap business. The other thing is that top rated OT in HS frequently don't pan out in college.
Actually when somebody posted that on another board, I was sure..name them. Then he did, it was shocking how many of the top rated guys at OT had just so so college careers. Guys like Alex Boone of Ohio State rated #2 in 2005, less than stellar career. Sam Young of ND also rated #2 in 2006, we know what happened there. Those are just a couple of them. There are more, I just don't remember them.
His father has been rumored to have hand out. I don't know if it's true or not, and I hope it isn't, but I wish him well wherever he ends up. I don't have any sympathy for Kiffin.
I saw on a Texas board that Seantrel and his father are in Miami and that he will be a Hurricane. They also said they heard he was way out of shape.
USC's loss is Miami's gain Five-star OT Seantrel Henderson will sign with Miami after leaving USC http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/football/news/story?id=5364073 No complaints from me on this, he will surely be well received....Its too bad we play Ohio St within 30 days after he arrives at the school. I would much rather have him have 2 years under his belt before traveling up to Columbus... Tim you need to turn off those Miami Vice reruns from the 80's its a new century.... RC
If his head is right he will be quite a player for you REC. And contrary to some of the insinuations that come out about Miami I don't believe for one minute that Randy Shannon will put up with anything from his father or him. I'm not exactly a fan of Shannon, but what I do believe about him is that he doesn't put up with the stuff that Miami became famous for. Now whether he can restore the glory, only time will tell.
If Miami is counting on a freshman LT against OSU, then besure and take out some life insurance policy on your QB!!
I know what you mean REC....it's sorta like the old"watch out for those cheatin Gators" refrain generated by the early 80s shenanigans of the Pell era that most if not all people are over with by now but for some it took quite a while to get there.......
LOL!! I sure hope like hell that they are not starting any freshman at LT against the Buckeyes.... George there is no way possible this can come close to Kellen Winslow and his father they excelled at "Diva Dominance"....It was like watching the TMZ celebrity channel... Bill you mentioned Shannon and this is a very important year for him. No matter what folks want to remember happened 25 years ago there is nothing similar playing on the current Cane teams. Just look at our record since losing to Ohio St in the championship game in 2002 and its obvious we have not been relevant in the college football world but have not been headlined with player arrest either. His mantra has been discipline and academic progress first before anything else. He has proven he can get this done but he has not yet proven he can compete with the upper crust and this year he should have the talent to compete. There is a large majority of Cane fans who dislike Shannon very much and think he has disciplined the competition right out of the team. I personally like what he has done with the Canes and think if he can keep Whipple as his OC for a couple of years they will contend again in the top 5. If we have to go back to the in your face mentality of the 80's I might have to put all my attention for the Canes into watching the baseball team.
It's "playas" vs. players. It's a fine line sometimes and sometimes it goes past the line.....i.e. Clarett, Phillips, etc. and others who may not be the most model citizens and who during their careers are most likely a smidgeon away from getting into trouble. I believe Urban Meyer at Florida wants "playas" but they must "play" by his rulebook. If they don't he either doesn't recruit them at all or they don't last long at UF. I'm not saying Florida doesn't have "playas" when they come in as freshmen to the program but they are more like players when they leave.... if they stick.
"Playa" is ebonic slang for a male that has no interest in a dating/commitment relationship, but an idea of being the next Wilt, Magic or Jeter. I believe they called it being a "Playboy" back in some of the Skybox members times. Not sure what they called it during Jiffy's heyday... But anyway, it has no relationship with a CFB student "Player." Thug, Thugga, Gangsta, Soulja boy, etc., are better ebonic labels more suited to the kinda players that Shannon and Meyer are interested in.
