Spent the last four days in Savannah Georgia at a fruit and vegetable conference and have to say what a great city. I've been here several times to attend this conference and have enjoyed the food, people and city every time we go. Laid back but vibrant and a joy to the those who love the culinary exquisite and don't mind a few extra pounds at the end of the day!!! 8) http://philliproebuck.bandcamp.com/track/cripple-creek
I've been there a number of times as well, and I would agree a very nice place to visit. Usually visit when I am at Hilton Head.
A great walking city at least in the old historic downtown area. My wife wears the treads off her shoes while I am at the conference every year. Then we hit all the restaurants that caught her eye as she traveled by, this year we hit the "pink house" built in 1780 for our main treat. The food was good but a tad bit expensive and over the top on the "foo, foo" side for me. I like good food but $32 an entree for a dish that holds about 4 oz is not realistic for my simple needs. I must be getting old because our hotel the Avia is next to the old market place and the rowdy crowd played loud all night long until three in the morning when they all closed the doors and crawled their way home. Funny I don't feel old except when I look in the mirror...
Grin My wife and I both brought up the fact that our enjoyment may be that there were no walkers, wheelchairs and three wheel bicycles running around every where you went. I know this sounds cruel but I live in the oldest County in Florida where the average age is 68 and experiencing a younger crowd was stimulating. A totally different experience than we normally deal with... Especially this time of the year...
Great old city. My wife and I enjoy walking the old city as well Ralph. Wonderful history......massive, crazy and wild St Patty's day bash also for you Irish guys!
