A lot of flags in this game. Brings back my old complaint about SEC refs that they think we are there to watch them instead of the game.

Probably not true this week but it's a sloppy game.

3 - 3 late in the first half, S. Carolina just had a td called back, their second penalty in two plays. They might be back at midfield if it doesn't stop. They had a first and goal on the three.

    Go Gamecocks.

    Finally a touchdown. S. Carolina leads 16 - 3.

I hope Gipper is having a good time.

With Gipper in the house the Refs are doing their best B10 impersonation! :)

South Carolina defense looks good Jevan Snead looks bad.

Wow, what a shift in momentum. Ole Miss scores, trails 16 - 10 and is moving the ball. S. Carolina needs a stop.

    16 - 10 Gamecocks.

Only the 2nd win ever against a top 5 team and the first ever at home.

Way to go Steve Spurrier and S. Carolina.

    Bill,

I agree with you 100% about the SEC refs. Neither team played well at all, but at the same time, the refs in your conference have a way of putting themselves in the spotlight.

That was just a bad game all the way around.

Saw that same stuff from Houston Nutt at Ark, he had some very good teams and then he'd just blow a tire, have a brain fart, something. How do you come out of a timeout with 13 players, how do you have your best player on the bench on 3rd down.

But a very exciting game though, as always on Thurs night.

    Terry

I'm glad we agree Corey, but I do think you will have trouble convincing Gamecock fans it was a bad game. :)

I do think SEC refs have improved some with the number of penalties they call but there sure were a lot tonight.

Oh UCLA wins some god awful football games under Slick Rick, so I know just what those SCAR fans are feeling... an ugly win beats the hell out of a pretty loss any day.

MCG, I hope you don't mind, I fixed the quote in your post so that it appeared as a quote.

    Just a short report
Fans at the game were great. Apparently Ole Miss fans are not despised by SC fans as some other programs are. You know who you are.
Lots of noise in the stadium. Some of that is the shape of the stadium which is high stands mostly between the end lines. Their sound system is incredible. Music is lound and clear. Students there are great. They play some quick paced music that they all bounce and move to. Great fun.
Play was ragged. Too many flags. I was expecting to see a skilled QB in Jevan Snead. No comparison to McCoy, Bradford or Clausen.
Surprise of the night was the thousands of empty seats in the corners of the upper decks. They missed a big win by the Cocks.
SCs stadium is missing one thing.....exit tunnels. Took a long, long time to get out. Didn't get to bed in Hilton Head until after 3 AM.
One of our group is a big Ole Miss fan. Felt sorry for him. Enjoyed the experience however.

    Obvious dig at Tebow?

Too bad you missed UF's 31 point 1st quarter yesterday....Tim was phenomenal. You think Clausen would have been the man vs. Alabama in the 4th quarter of the SEC Title game last year as was Tebow?

Clausen may be finding his way but he's no Tebow.

How about a bet MCG. I say Clausen gets drafted higher by the NFL than Tebow. Want to put your money where your big mouth is?

It just wouldn't be a thread on the skybox without Dave hijacking it and trying to make it about the Gators.

Jesus H.... Bill, when I express my frustration months later at countless threads hijacked and turned into Gator posts.. this is exactly what I am talking about right here. (I hadn't been stopping to document them in the past as I figured it was obvious.. since it appears that isn't the case, here's a spotlight)

In a thread about the Ole Miss-SCAR game... it turns into a debate about the awesomeness of Tebow... I've been putting off starting that section I referred to a while ago, mostly due to Tebow's injury, but it is getting really hard not to.

OK....I get the "you know who you are" dig from Gipper then he takes another shot at Tebow so I react. Note...I react....not hijack.

The NFL may or may not draft Clausen higher but that's the NFL and it is no measure of the ability to lead or of the college player either one is.

    T,

By not listing Tebow as one of the great QBs that is somehow a 'shot at Tebow'... There's a lotta NFL scouts who must love to take shots at Tebow then...

    ugh.
