I'm in no hurry to make up my mind, since there is no clear conservative candidate to vote for. I could vote for Rudy, but I want to hear more...

The rap against Thompson is that he's lazy and didn't work hard as a senator. He is probably the closest to my own views, so I want to listen to him too...

I got nuthin against "lazy". Reagan was not known as a ball of fire, but he knew what he wanted to do and was good at it. Once asked if it was true that he once dozed off during a cabinet meeting, he replied " Well, I heard that work never killed anyone, but I'm not ready to test that theory." He advocated less government, so not initiating a lot of legislation by Fred doesn't bother me.

I would vote for Rudy if he was nominated. I do not think the taxpayers should pay for abortions. Roe was pure legislation, but all it did was decriminalize it. The thinking of some politicians, Rudy, included, is that, since it is no longer a crime, it therefore becomes a guaranted right, therefore women who can not afford it should get government assistance. This reasoning is assinine. By this reasoning, if marijuana was decriminalized, govenment would be obliged to buy it for the indigent. I see no difference. I have a right to own a Bentley.

funny how you guys hated Clinton for womanizing, BEFORE he was President. I find it not surprising, and very hypocritical of you to try to support this man. That's the way Americans are.

I didn't care at all about his womanizing. I was disgusted about his lying about it.

By the way, who woke you up?

I'm with TB on this one. He may have been a great mayor of NY and one of the heroes of 9/11, but he obviously has major issues in his personal life which are not someone else's fault. Whoever #3 is, she would be the first lady. That doesn't sit well with me. I have no problem with anyone who enters a second marriage. There are a lot of justifiable reasons for divorce. But when you dump #2 and move on to #3, and you are asking me to entrust you with running my country, no thanks. When he stepped onto the national stage, he gave me the right to judge him, and I have. Thumbs down on Rudy for this voter.

    Well as far as Clinton.

    1) he called a national news conference to look the american people right in the eye, after he'd been caught red handed, and he lied to us again. I say again because he lied to everybody about Paula Jones, and about a bunch of other women.

    2) He did it in the Oval Office.

    3) He then went through sham counciling with Jesse Jackson, who was having an affair with his secretary at the very same time. I'm sure they were having a good ole time talking about the women they've had. I wonder if Jesse even brought a bible with him for show.

    4) You Tailback stood behind him, said it didn't matter that he lied to the american people, that the only thing that mattered was the job that he did as president.

    5) Unlike Clinton who wasn't exposed as a liar till after he was elected. Rudy will have to deal with his indiscretions, which don't involve lying to the American people, but he will have to deal with them and they will be an issue.

Not true. I said, "he handled it wrong, he should have told Americans it was none of their business". I said I was disgusted with what he did, but it should be between him, his wife, that gal he cheated with, and The Lord. He shouldn't have lied in court about it. He should have came out and told them he wasn't going to answer the question if he had sex with her because it wasn't any of their business. I also said that I bet 50% or more of the married men out there that are judging him have had an affair or two themselves.

My point here is how the Republican can judge Clinton for his womanizing, but turn the other cheek to someone like Rudy. Oh it's okay, because Rudy didn't do it in the Oval Office. Go figure? As for what would be the First Lady? She F'ed around with a married man. She may have been married herself at the time? I'm not sure about that?

Sid, You have my respect. Which all of you here do as well. Sid just hit the nail on the head regarding Rudy.

What use to interest me has become less important in my life. Football doesn't matter to me as much any more. Truthfully politics doesn't either. You can't tell that with this thread though. What ever happens, life goes on. I just sit back and watch.
