I do too Gip....great swing, good kid. I think he seals the deal and becomes the dominant player on the tour....
I'd love to see him go out and post about 3 under again today. Question, even if he does get on a Tiger like run do you see him becoming the dominant type of player Tiger was in his prime? Tiger was so monumentally popular, I don't think Rory has the personality like Tiger had and he's a WHIP (White Irish Protestant).
To dominate like Tiger he first has to intimidate like Tiger. Winning a few more majors by a half dozen or so strokes might do that. Golf really needs someone like him to make these tournaments interesting. American golf right now is not very impressive.
Good point, when Tiger came on the tour he wasn't one of the boys. I think he invented the " I didn't bring my A game today" and that didn't sit well with the regular pro's. Rory seems to be one of the boys.
Amazing day for Rory. But 16 under says almost as much about Congressional as it does about Rory's great play. Watching Jason Day spray the ball all over the place today but never making bogey, I have to wonder if he were playing at Pebble what would his score have been. I remember Opens where if you missed the fairway you might lose the ball and where there was constant griping by the players about the unfair conditions. Tiger winning by 15 strokes at Pebble, being the only guy under par, was probably a better performance on much tougher course. But I don't mean to take anything away from Rory, terrific playing made few mistakes and recovered nicely from most of them. Also I wonder if the last two opens have done anything for the sales of Guinness around the world!!
No, but thanks...was using my "Smart"phone and couldn't get the pictures to link in properly. That one above showed up one time but wasn't the one I was shooting for.
