tonight. I saw clips and he looks pretty sharp for an old guy. He did give up a dinger, but he did that in his first start in the minors last year as well. I have to ask, is there another major league town that also has a Class A (or any other level) minor league team as well? Terry
Roger looked like Rustbucket Roger last night. This may be it for him, the Yankee pitching curse takes it's toll.
I would contend that if he doesn't perform up to expectations, it would be because age may finally have caught up with him. If that should turn out to be the case and his career ends on a sour note with the most watched team in MLB, it would slightly tarnish his legacy for today's fans but not in a long-term historical context. It won't bother him because he'll be financially better off by $18 million. Oh wait! I forgot. It's not about the money.
Better in his last outing, I guess he'll be up for his next start...wonder if they'll throw him to the wolves in Fenway? I'd say that it'd sellout the place but according to Jif if they turn on the lights it's a sellout!
T! Fenway sells out in Dec. when tickets go on sale. They save about 3 or 400 standing room that they put on sale the day of the game. In addition, they maintain a waiting list for season tickets. This list is over 100,000!! iF ONE WANTED TO GO TO ebay..tix are available there..but probably starting at 150.00! This all came about when NEW OWNERSHIP took over about 7 years ago. Prior to that I used to call up and order tickets for 3-4 games a year for my employees. I would take 10 of them to a game for under 200.00. Now ONE TICKET approaches that. Parking went fron 20.00 to 75.00!
