JUST SIGN 'EM BABY, JUST SIGN 'EM Huskers reel in offensive lineman By the Lincoln Journal Star Wednesday, Dec 27, 2006 - 12:15:19 am CST One of the country’s highly-ranked high school offensive linemen has given an oral commitment to play for Nebraska. Jaivorio Burkes, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound senior at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, told recruiting Web sites Tuesday of his decision. He becomes the 28th known oral commitment to Nebraska’s 2007 recruiting class. Burkes rates as a four-star athlete according to both Rivals.com and Scout.com. Rivals ranks Burkes as the nation’s No. 7 offensive guard, and Scout ranks him as a top-10 offensive tackle prospect. Burkes chose Nebraska over scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan and Tennessee, among many others. Assistant coach Bill Busch played the lead role in Burkes’ recruitment. The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Jones and Burkes are the only two offensive linemen in the Huskers’ 2007 class.
