Nothing will be over after today, Joel. It's still August. And speaking of August, we're expecting 103 degrees today.
You sound like the yankee fans on my AOL forum. Since April they have been telling me.." Well its only April, only May, only June etc etc". Rick this thing is OVAH but we need the NAIL driven in tonite.
You take that back right now. Believe me, I want to see the Sox win and win big, and I've heard it reported that the Yankees brass considers their upcoming series with Seattle to be more important, but there are still 30 games left.
Certainly in one sense it is. The Yanks are closer to a wild card behind Seattle than they are to the Division title. I hear that Mussina is being taken out of the starting rotation. He's been lit up pretty good lately.
Well I doubt if the Yankees should even be worrying about catching the Sox they have to worry about the wildcard to get into the playoffs first.
I had written off the Cards and Yankees as dead in early June. Right now, all of the folks yaking on Chicago sports talk radio are scared to death of the Cards and they probably have good reason for these fears. After all this team went through this year, it is amazing how LaRussa was able to hold things together. I saw them in May when they came to Detroit and they were one of the most disspirited clubs I had ever seen. As far as the Yankees go, their fight is with Seattle, Detroit and/or Cleveland for the wild card. The Tigers have a a ton of home games remaining but losing Sheffield is a major blow. Boston will win the East but still may have to deal with the Yankees in October.
