    Good question.

    If Andrew come ashore about 30 miles north of where it did it would have hit downtown Miami. I doubt this structure could have stood up to Andrew.

    Probably most Hurricanes it would survive though.

    I'm guessing that there is something in the design which makes the buildings impervious to hurricanes. After the devastation of recent years, I can't imagine any architectural plan anywhere in Florida being approved unless it showed "hurricane-proof" construction.

    Basically I think you have a good point Sid. However there is a point where if the storm is bad enough damage can happen.

    But I imagine that for all but the worst storms it would ride it out well and for a category 4 or 5 there would be some damage but not total devastation.
