One of my fondest memories is being on American Bandstand one day during the summer of 1961. It was an exceptionally cool experience. Dick Clark clearly was one of the mega icons of the early rock & roll years, the 50s and 60s. He parlayed that success into a legacy of entertainment that has spanned over 6 decades. Today's kids may remember him only as the post-stroke host of his New Year's Eve show, but my generation appreciates his contributions to music and entertainment throughout our teen and adult lives.
