Nice win tonight for the Boilers. They controlled the tempo of the game and after letting OSU back in at the end made some nice plays to hold onto the victory. They clearly are playing the best basketball in the Big 10 right now. If they can continue to play well and maybe win the Big 10 tournament, they likely would receive a #1 seed......but there still is a long way to go. If there is one certainty in the Big 10, every game is a war.
J Johnson with his terrific play was the difference maker last night for Purdue. Nice win for the Boilermakers on the road. Don
I only caught the last 12 or 13 minutes and couldn't believe it when I saw how good his stats were...JJ had a bad last few minutes. I think the Buckeyes had a bit of an off night...they've been playing great lately.
pu <t>purdue...dominance....aaaaaa....yeah.....right. Enjoy the good times while the Hoosiers are down. IU will be back.</t>
Actually, Tim, IU played Purdue down to the wire in Bloomington. I'm geographically closer to IU than you, so I've seen a lot that's been written about Crean and where the program is at this time. IU fans have every reason to be optimistic, but it will take a while. With each recruiting class, they will move forward. I predict that in 2-3 years IU will be contending for the conference crown.
I know you don't have much use for the Boilers but not sure I understand your scorn. Dominance was not my term. This was not my thread. We are lacking the National Championships that IU has managed, if that is your criteria... But Purdue has more Big 10 Championships than any other school and has a winning record against every school in the conference. I'll enjoy the good times...we have had plenty of them. And I'll welcome your Hoosiers back...I'm sure you're right.
I'm the one who used the word "dominance." I only used it because in recent games Purdue has beaten its top two rivals for the conference regular season championship, MSU and OSU, and is playing the best BB among the top teams in the conference. Perhaps "dominance" is too strong a word. We'll know more after the B10 tournament. P.S. Upon further reflection, I decided to change the title of the topic.....not that anyone cares.
Stu/Pur <t>Stu,<br/> <br/> Always keep in mind that other than taking the whole school out of the state of Indiana......well I'll just let it go at that.<br/> <br/> Your a good guy Stu, I just can't stand Purdue.</t>
Let me translate Tim's last post: We both love Purdue. You love them and I love to hate them. Does that pretty much cover it Tim? 8) 8) 8)
The... <t>Purdue game was outstanding this afternoon. I watched the entire game and Purdue can play. Nice chemistry team and Illinois played real well. Purdue is a well coached team and their future looks bright. <br/> IU will be fine as well under Crean as he can coach. One thing that set them back was losing the New Jersy point Kyrie Irvin to Duke. Duke fans will love this guy.<br/> If I'm an IU fan grit your teeth now but they will be back under TC.</t>
How serious is the injury to Hummel? Purdue won anyway last night but if he's gone for the season that will have to hurt.
I have not found anything difinitive on site this morning. This could be a real sad blow to Purdue's run for a national tile. Knee injuries can be very serious, not like an ankle sprain. I hope it is not a season ending injury. They have MSU coming up Sunday, Indiana mid week and finish up at Penn State. Don
Losing Hummel could cost them a projected #1 seed. It's not quite the same as Cincinnati losing Kenyon Martin several years ago late in the season, because Purdue has more depth behind Hummel than Cincy did behind Martin. But it's similar IF Hummel is done for the season.
