Chris Fowler... mouthpiece of ESPN Gameday. Week 13: votes the Aggies 16th after beating Nebraska ********votes Nebraska 15th after said loss ( I don't really have a problem with this - it can happen) Week 14: votes the Aggies 20th after winning rivalry game on the ROAD. ********votes Nebraska 6th after beating hapless CU at home. (WTF?) I'd love to hear the thought process on his ballot.
OK Wisc. is #4 MSU is #7 they have the same records and MSU beat Wisc. Why? OSU is #6 and MSU is #7. MSU has beaten #4 Wisc. What's the highest team that OSU has beaten?
I would challenge you guys to come up with a top 25 that has no questionable rankings. I've tried it over on ESPN a number of times, but I can't really do it.
The overall poll itself will of course have weird stuff in it, because it's basically an average of all the votes. I'm more focused on one ballot as an example. I picked Fowler's because he seemed to make some ridiculous moves in just one week. I have no problem with re-evaluating things each week, but the moves I mentioned don't seem to have any kind of rational thought involved...
I'm just spit balling here, but I'm guessing that Fowler totally devalues your win over Neb because of the supposed screw job by the officals, also I'll be he'd factor in that Taylor Martinez was not 100%. Plus he gets free corn Porn from Neb!
That's possible, but how can ANYONE (not named AJ) vote NU #6, after voting them 15 the week before? Had they beaten Oregon up in Autzen I'd buy it, but not by drubbing pathetic Colorado in Lincoln.
Yeah I'll give you that, but personally I have never had much respect for Fowler. He's a light weight.
Unless the penalties are all offsides.....or too many men on the field, etc......then it is difficult to believe one team commits 16 infractions while another commits only 2. Everything else is so subjective.....block in the back, late hit, holding, pass interference, excessive celebration, personal foul.....etc. The door is wide open for abuse with the way in which penalties are called.
For the record... eight of the penalties were false start, and illegal formation type. No judgment involved. The PF's were what drew all the scrutiny... and some of them were definitely not good calls.
I'm good on the false start although sometimes a defense that is not supposed to taunt an OL into a false start is allowed to get away with it....not good. The questionable PFs are inexcusable.....every time...... unless a real effort is made to even up the judgments during the course of the game. I repeat one of my CFB mantras......I never....ever want to see a ref influence the outcome of a game......not ever.
OK, the birth cert say's Andrew Jon, so I'll chime in.....because the whole season and the what if's were factored in?..... 8)
Especially the Pre-Med student who tried to practice his Proctology techniques on Ben Cotton in the fumble pile.....
Unfortunately Bill I agree with you in far too many cases....yet these ballots carry 70% of the weight in our selection of championship finalists. The notion that such a system is a sound and reasonable way to crown a champion is bizarre at best....
