Getting towards the end and a lot of stuff going on... 1. Arizona is now 11-3 but they have lost their top 2 QB's...defense is very good but can they continue to win with a 3rd stringer? 2. Johnny Football makes his first start. His coach says he's just going to have to learn to deal with the taunting, he said he can guarantee that if he's sacked the guys will all get up and do that money sign over him. 3. Texans need badly their first win ever at Indy, nobody is picking them but it's not hard to notice that the Colts have started to turn the ball over a lot lately. Maybe JJ Watt can get another TD on one of those.
1. That's an awfully good D. 2. Good luck JFF. There's no deep end of the pool in the NFL, just the shark tank. 3. The Texans make my brain hurt. How aren't they better?
Ugh..Bill O'Brien. It's not his fault that Fitzpatrick broke his leg or that Ryan Mallet tore his pect. But yesterday on 4th and 1 he had a fake punt on with the guy who makes the call being a rookie RB. It's his job to read the keys and either call it or call it off. Of course he fails to notice that the Colts are bunched up like 10 deep in the middle and he calls it on and is buried before takes a step. That's on Bill O'Brien. Also, BOB has 3rd and 2 late in the game and it's a long 2, with one of the top RB in the game and who has been having a great 2nd half...so he goes with the QB sneak that gets stuffed and then with 4th and 1 with that same RB he goes with the pass to that RB. Why not give it to the big guy and let the OL earn it's keep. Ugh. Not really liking BOB that much today. Stupid player of the weekend. The Titans DE who punched Geno Smith and started the fight. Um...did he not notice that Geno wears a helmet? Did he hurt his hand?
Now that the Seahawks have ended the playoff hopes of S.F. I wonder if Harbaugh and Michigan will sit down and see if he's going to make the move or not?
And the North Carolina Gators, my fantasy team, are poised to win the first round playoff and be in the finals next week. We were a heave underdog this week but unless the other teams linebacker can score 33 points we move on. Big upset. We will also be a heavy underdog this week but maybe there's one more big day. Just thought you guys would like to know. Hey that was a big win by Dallas last night.
I agree with this article. Enough is enough, we have the ability to take a bad call and make it right. I don't know why we don't use it, tradition be damned. The NFL has the money, they already have the command center setup in NYC and they can afford to add even more camera's if they need better and different angles, they have the money to have more tech's on the game feeds. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/12/nfl-penalties-reviewable Don't even get me started on why MLB ditched a system of review of balls/strikes because the umps didn't like it.
I was watching the Seattle-SF game and saw the bad call. It hurt SF, but there's no way to know if they would have won or even scored minus the call. There is no comparison whatsoever between calls like that and ball/strike calls in baseball. Can you imagine how much time would be added to a baseball game if that were to happen. The games are long enough as is, too long for the average fan. I would venture that if ball/strike calls were subject to review, it would kill the game. I hope it never happens. As far as the NFL, I really don't care, but that's just my opinion.
Well the system I was thinking of didn't call balls and strikes and wasn't used to do anything but "train" umpires as to where the strike zone is really!!! Overhead Camera that clearly showed the plate, could record # of balls over the plate vs ones not over the plate but called strikes anyway. Umps hated it because the TV guys had access to it and it made them look bad. How many times have you read about top pitchers expanding the strike zone, some of those old Atlanta pitchers, and all great HOF types could throw outside the strikezone all the time and get the call. I forsee someday a holographic system that defines the strike zone 3D, sort like how Tennis has melded highspeed camera/computers to essentially eliminate bad line calls.
Bill, Speaking of fantasy teams.. I had Rodgers as my QB and I sat the Bills defense out of fear they'd get torched by Rogers. Amazingly, I still have a lead going into tonight. He has 2 guys left and he needs to score less than 50 combined points. I have no idea how I'm still leading. If I win this week, I'll put up huge numbers next week.
Well good luck Corey. I have Brady as my QB and he did ok by me. All in the 2nd half though. I will win tonight baring a linebacker, Lofton, scoring 39 points which I doubt happens. The only decision I will have to make next week is whether to play the Lions defense or the Pats defense. I chose the Lions last week and the Pats were much better in our league. Strange year for me, I started 1-3, finished 1-3 but won 6 in a row in between. Then I had to sneak out a low scoring game the last week to qualify. Then I beat the best team in the league to go to the finals. I am hoping it's a streak of one more game. But this team has beat me 2 times this year and beat me out in our division. I am hoping for lightning to strike one more time. Best of luck to you.
thanks Bill, same to you. I wound up winning. I lost 4 times this year, twice to this guy. If you'd have told me that Rodgers would have 8 points, Cobb 11, that the Bills defense would dominate but I sat them on the bench where they're next to KC's backup RB who has a 20+ point game AND I STILL WIN, I would have laughed in your face. Thankfully, Gronk went crazy. I still got 13 points out of the Giants defense and Hill ran wild all over the Browns. Interesting enough, the final in my league is down to the 2 ND fans. I've beaten this guy twice easily this season, but that means nothing. He picked up Seattle's defense after I gave up on them and it seems to have been the spark he needed.. Looking at the projected points, he should clobber me. We'll see.
Well it's official the Texans are down to their 4th Starting QB of the year. They signed Case Keenum who had been with the team for several years and was cut in August. Thaddeus Lewis is the other QB. Don't know who will start for the Ravens game. Season gone, and we won't really even have gotten to see the 2 young QB's who we had on the roster that had potential. Mallett had 1 great game and Savage had about a 1/2 of a game. Now they have to make a decision on Mallett based on practice and 1 game. Savage on practice.
Mallet seemed to have more potential. I thought you'd be better off playing Fred Savage than Tom Savage.. then again, I'm only looking at a tiny window. You guys have a lot going for you. If you're patient, you may not screw the whole thing up.
The whole 2014 draft was a bust for the Texans: 1. Clowney...the microfracture surgery probably means he'll never be the player he might have been. 2. Sua-fil-o ...the OL from UCLA so far a bust 3. Fiedoroawitz the TE from Iowa can't catch a cold. 4. Louis Nix III ..DT from Notre Dame a bust, injuries, and genuine questions about his work ethic. 5. Tom Savage...QB from Pitt...who knows but it's unlikely he'll be anything other than a career practice squad player. 6. Only guy in the draft who has contributed is 6th roound pick Alfred Blue RB from LSU. Time to fire Ric Smith IMHO.
OLs are like plants and QBs, you really need to grow them if you want greatness. Picking defensive talent in the draft is always dicey. Nix needs to grow up. I could see him getting cut, finding himself and then making it with someone else. He reminds me of that guy Ball a few years back. Clowney has the tools even post injury, I think heart is the real issue here and that's always been the issue.
Jay Cutler benched for this weeks game. Much as I'd like to see him do well, this week's game is against the Lions. So even though it's getting tired of the Lions making the playoffs almost every year, getting to the Conference finals often and playing in so many Super Bowls, I hope he doesn't win this week. I'm hoping he looks better than Cutler and plays great next week.
Jsy Cutler was probably benched to preserve his life, that Bear's OL was going to get him killed vs the Lions. Better to sacrafice Jimmy Clausen than risk losing Cutler.
