An interesting list of names is circulating around Aggieland. Two that stand out:

    Tim Floyd
    Jamie Dixon

Floyd has some Texas ties, although it would probably be tough to get him away from SC.

Dixon is at a place that might not be willing to pay to keep him, and he's in a really tough conference.

Things that make you say "Hmmmm...."

I'm hearing that Byrne has known at least a week he was probably going to have to return to search mode, and some insiders think he will have a deal done pretty quick...

Floyd is the most successful BB coach at USC in 35 years. He has a brand new home arena to play in and recruiting is the best since the 1960's. That Trojan alumni will not be out-spent in keeping him...

IMO Dixon would be a good catch if you could land him.

    JO'Co,

Everyone that has brought up Floyd as a possibility has said it wouldn't be easy, but then again he's only making $600K right now.

It's speculated we would offer around $1.75 to upper level guys. Add that to the new practice facility, and we do have some things to offer.

I don't see him as high probability, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Scott,
Don't me wrong. I'd love it if TAMU gets Floyd. He's an outstanding coach on the college level and I'd like to get him outta town before he beats somebody. I was just pointing out that the savages downtown have taken a shine to this guy and that will make him very expensive...

Looks like the "big" names left out there were happy at their current homes, and the Aggies will "settle" for Turgeon from Wichita St.

The guy has a pretty nice resume, and although he isn't the WOW hire everyone wants he does have ties to Texas recruiting, and can hopefully continue our upward climb.

    Time will tell...

Looks like a good hire. He's got experience and some success at a Mid Major. You always hope that the coaching accumen is there and will be magnified by better facilities and access to better talent.

    Scott,

He apparently did quite well with the Shockers. Good Luck on the hire. I hope things work out well for the Aggies!
