Look at how the Polo Grounds was shaped, no wonder nobody could hit one out in CF. Note it was right across the river from old Yankee Stadium.

I was 13 years old and just started really getting interested in baseball. Lived in Florida but we had moved there from Ohio. Cleveland was very good and the Cinn Reds were not so I became an Indian fan.

Lived and died with them even turned in on a portable radio.

This series killed me, but I sure remember Willie Mays making that catch.

My son and I took my grandsons to a Phillies v Mets game back in May. $50.00 nosebleed seats x 4 = $200.00. Parking was $20.00. Tolls coming and going were another $20.00. Two beers. two hot dogs. two cheese fries and four sodas were about $110.00. Three hours of unexciting baseball = $350.00 + gas.

I think I've read that the highest concession stand prices are at the Mets stadium.

This picture is for Joel. It's from his youth!

deGrom is skipping the All-Star game as are Astros Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. I'm a little surprised that MLB allows this as all 3 players are healthy just don't want to play.

Masterful performance tonight by Cole in shutting out the Astros. He was just dominant, threw the most pitches by anyone in 2 years, 129 and was just as strong in the 9th as in 1st.

Yanks shut us out 2 we games in a row.

A controversial call during the Brewers-Reds game last night. Yelich was called out because he made a leftward move toward second, however imperceptible in the video. He argued vociferously and was ejected. I believe it was the right call. I'm guessing Bobda doesn't, and I wouldn't blame him.

All Star week...and all of the Astros have opted not to play. The all claimed family reasons. They aren't the only ones a number of other players also opted not to play.

Astros avoided the sweep from the Yankee's with an amazing rally in the bottom of the 9th finished off by walk off 3 run HR by Jose Altuve. Who ripped his jersey off to show the Yankee's his chest, Saturday Judge, after hitting a HR for the only run of the game in the mimicked Altuve's jersey clutching in a walkoff he hit in the ALDS in 2019 the Yankees claim he did because he was hiding a device. So that's why Altuve's jersey was ripped off last night!

News in Cleveland: Hard to imagine the Indians leaving. No word on when or what the new nickname will be for the Indians.

Amid concerns about the Indians' future in Cleveland, the club is nearing an agreement on an extension to the Progressive Field lease, sources tell The Athletic.

The team, city and stadium landlord Gateway Corp. are discussing a lease deal. The current agreement ends after the 2023 season, the ballpark's 30th in the heart of downtown Cleveland.

However, worries about the Indians' future aren't limited to just the ballpark. The club finds itself at a crossroads with its controversial nickname set to be retired in 2022, payroll being slashed to its lowest figure in a decade and questions lingering about its future ownership.

Dusty Bakers son was drafted by the Washington Nationals. He played at CAL. I was surprised that it was his son, I thought it was probably his grandson as Dusty is no spring chicken and at age 72 to have a son who just finished at CAL I thought for sure that was a misprint.

I don't remember this incident during the 2002 WS when Dusty was managing the Giants but it's that kid who almost gets run over at the plate and JT Snow saves him.
