I'm really sort of surprised. There was no outrage from Razorback fans, and he's seemingly got the program on the rise, finishing strong last year at #5, and having a great offense. I guess though in the end it was the lying to his boss and hiring his girlfriend for a state position that got him. I wonder who they will get to coach, it's certainly an odd time to be looking. Petrino Out He'll be back coaching in 2013 you can bet on that.
He'll be back in 2013 but I bet it's not in the NFL. Come to think of it, he could be a good pick to caretake the Saints for this year.
No I don't think the way he left the Falcons will endear him to any NFL teams, but there will be a college team out there who will listen to his "I've changed" and all that stuff and hire him. The guy can flat out coach.
Agreed, but even after Mike Price's fiasco at Alabama he was able to get a job at UTEP, that's the kind of job Petrino will get.
He already had a not so good reputation but got good jobs based on his coaching ability, however I think Terry is right about the type job he will get now. According to the rumors at the time he was in the running when Meyer got the Gator job, in fact one account I read was that if Meyer had turned us down he was the next coach. At the time I would have been ok with that, however after that he left Atlanta in a way I thought was lousy and now this. I sure wouldn't want him at Florida.
ESPN has a list of who they think might be considered... At the top of the list was Butch Davis who just got fired for letting UNC's football program get into NCAA trouble. Why would they think that the Razorbacks would replace one sleezebag with a guy who was just fired for NCAA problems. Two of the guys just took jobs, Gus Malazhan at Ark State and McGee at UAB...they'd have to be dicks to drop their new schools after a couple of months. Another guy was Gary Patterson of TCU, I can't imagine him even taking the call from the Ark AD. Only guy on the list who might is Paul Rhodes at ISU, Ark is so much better job than ISU and no doubt would double or triple his salary would be tempted I have no doubt. And he's at least paid his dues to Iowa State and while leaving at this time wouldn't be great for ISU, but you couldn't argue that Rhoades didn't deserve a chance at a better job. But for some reason I doubt he even gets a call.
