1st quarter. Michigan 10 Penn State 0 Part of me says, 'haha' Another part of me says, "WTF?!" It's early.
PSU only down a FG now at half. I think they probably were just taking UM a little too lightly. I expect they will play very well in the 2nd half and UM will come back to earth.
UM could possibly lose all the rest of their games, not likely but 4-8 looks like the high water mark for them. I'd like to see them at 2-10 myself.
Penn State certainly has been the surprise of the Big Ten this fall. After our upbeat game against MSU yesterday, I am looking forward to the game with Penn State next Saturday evening here in Columbus. Don
Should be a good game Don. What I should have said is that if Penn State beats Ohio State they have a heck of s shot at the BCS Championship game.
We may be a wreck this year, Corey, but in contrast to some of my fellow Wolverine fans who have already created firerichrod.com sites, I am willing to me patient. It may take 2-3 years but I like Rodriguez's offense. I have seen enough to show me that if he can get a QB who can run and pass, his no-huddle, faced-past offense can put constant pressure on a defense and create wide open spaces for runners and recievers. I also think our defenseive coordinator is very good. He had Penn State offense tied into knots the first half with his unpredicabkle blitz schems but the defense wore down in the second half, and Penn State steamrolled over a group that was on he field too long. Michigan had a ton of guys who left the program with eligibility left and have been hurt badly with the injury bug this year. The end result is a Michigan team that is uncommonly thin in depth. The most glaring aspect is at QB. Treat is more of a Carr-type QB-tall, not mobile, but with a very good arm. He is ill suited for this offense but had played his heart out and has done a credible job. The problem is that he now is banged up forcing us to use a walk-on, Sheridan, who, at best, is a scout team QB. It was when Treat left the game hurt ad Sheridan came in that the Penn State Blitzkrieg began. If Treat's elbow injury is serious, we do stand a good chance of not winning another game the rest of the season. RR is not without flaws. He came to AA pretty cocky and and alienated many with his Boywonder persona and arrogance and what appeared to be a caviler treatment of some of the seniors players who adored Lloyd. He obviously wants to put his signature on the program but acted in a heavy-handed manner. But, while this season has been a disaster, there a more than a few signs that suggest to me that this guy can coach and will put a fast, exciting, formidable team on the field in a few years.
Bobda, I agree with you across the board. I, too, think Dickrod will succeed... I wonder if the fantastically faithful fans in Michigan will let him get the chance?
I'd be suprised as well if Rodriguez isn't ultimately successful at UM. I just sort of smile at the possiblity of a 2-10 season for you guys!! UM fans, not you but some, took pleasure in the Irish debacle last year and crowed that it would never happen at AA!!! Now you've lost to a team worse than Navy and could possilbly end up with a worse record. There is a symmetry in that result that warms my heart!!
