Watched Lady Irish blow out Tenn tonight, sort of pay back as the Lady Vols have put many a big whupping on the Irish. But I have to say it was very sad to watch Pat Summit sit on the bench, that was not the Pat Summit that I had grown to [in a good and respectful way] hate. She has been one of the greatest if not the greatest coach in Womens Basketball history, but she is a shell of her former self. I hope that this year will be Pat's last, she deserves to be remembered for what she was during her career, not for what a terrible disease has robbed her of.

I haven't watched for a whole game, but have seen her during a news report or so and had some similar observations. She isn't the same.

I agree with you it's really sad and probably the best thing is for her to retire.

On a side note I noted a few of our mens basketball players on the bench in our game Sat wearing Back Pat T shirts. Here's an article on the UF Gator site about Pat.

While Pat may not be at the top of her game right now, I will welcome her to courtside as long as she wants to be there. I also have the utmost respect for the non-Tennessee people showing support for Pat. That is a classy thing to do. Thanks Gators and thanks Bill for sharing.

Thanks Tom and I won't disagree with you about Pat coaching as long as she and the Tennessee fans want.

I would want her as my coach. As far as I am concerned, in the world of sports she is a national treasure.

I can understand the feeling of Tenn fans esp wanting Pat to coach as long as she wants. After all she started that program from nothing and built it to a dominant powerhouse. Now I only have watched the 1 Tenn game, last night, but she didn't do much coaching, it appeared to me her assistants were pretty much running things.

I think if she keeps coaching it could hurt the program, top talent that Tenn is used to getting might wonder about the direction of the program and who is really in charge.
