I wonder how long the elected GOP governor of South Carolina would stay elected if he took Begala up on his suggestions by not having his state accept any of the additional federal money from the Stimulus or any federal money for that matter?

It's a comical idea if you ask me because it's so easy to sit on the sidelines and offer grandiose opinions when you have no clue what you would do personally or you can't make the sacrifices you expect others to make.

Same ole rhetoric....same ole partsian B/S.

How absurd......Begala is an a$$....and along with his pal Rahm, is among the most partisan of partisans. Do you really think that if the Gov of SC did indeed decline, that Pelosi and comrades wouldn't still spend every freakin' nickel....imagine how much more she could do for her backyard rats?

I'm with Terry. Nothing that ass could say would be painful to an intelligent person.

You wonder why Begala is not pi$$ing on the Dems who did not support the bill.....the final tally showed more Dems voting against, than Republicans voting in favor..... a bad bill is just a bad bill. Where is Begala's outrage over the libs who didn't support the pork barrel?

For once I'd like to see someone call the spade.

Why refuse the money so the state could slip further behind other states, creating more poverty and desperation that the Democrats (at least the current power structure) loves to feed on.

To take it a step further...

If I am the Governor of SCAR, my counter to the suggestion is that SCAR refuses to take bailout money if the citizens of South Carolina no longer have to pay any federal taxes.

Roads and state projects start getting fixed like a mofo when the money that was going to the Fed now goes entirely to the state.

Come to think of it.. I think this is a wonderful idea.. Let's make a deal...

Of course Begala and every Democrat who opposed the Bush tax cuts took advantage of every penny. On second thought, having watched the Obama cabinet apointees, it looks like Democrats not only took advantage of the Bush tax cuts but they also engaged in their own pay less than your really owe tax programs. What else would you expect from people who constantly want to raise taxes and then don't pay all of theirs?
And by the way, if I'm SC's governor I suggest that if their residents could avoid paying ALL of the taxes that they have to pay to the federal government, they could do a much better job spending it in their home state.

    Gip,

    That's my proposal.

Begs the beggar is onto something.

Turn down bailout money, avoid paying all taxes to the Fed. Sounds like a fair trade to me.
