The big question El Jiffo is will some team lose it's mind and pay Manny the 25 million dollars a year and give him a long term deal.

D.. Does Joco realize he has 4 or 5 Red Sox rejects on that ball club? Tell him I am waiting for his reply..hopefully right here :!:
Mrs. Joco, while you are at it, ask JOCO to pass along his summer reading list....he and I share a passion for history and I always enjoy his recent reads. Having just gotten back from vacation myself, I need a new book! Have him email me directly if that would be more convenient for him.
T Buck... History is my cup of tea also. However, its mostly world war 2 period and life in Eastern Europe including, but not limited to Holocaust.
T A few suggestions. First The Coldest Winter by David Halberstam a very interesting book about the Korean war. Max Hastings who wrote about the last year of WWII in Europe in Armegedon, now has a book about the final year in the Pacific called Retribution. Both are well researched and written. If you want to have some "historical" fun I'd strongly recommend the 3 book series on the Civil War by old Newt Gingrich. What would have happened if Lee listened to Longstreet and didn't send Picket on that fatal charge. Starting with Gettysburg, then Grant Comes East and then Never Call Retreat you get to see how the war would have played out after a Southern victory at Gettysburg. Very entertaining for the history buff. And if you find that kind of history tweeking enjoyable, Newt has published 2 books redoing Pearl Harbor and afterwards. Good but not a much fun as his Civil War saga.
I once read a book called Guns of the South, where racist South Africans with a Time Machine come back to the American Civil War and give Robt. E. Lee AK47's. Interesting for awhile but bogged down so much in the after effects of a Southern victory that I never finished it.
Jiffer, I enjoy the WWII era as well, but just about anything well written and researched I would enjoy. Thanks for the tips Gip...I'll check 'em out. My last decent read was "The Great Upheaval" by Jay Winik - the guy who wrote April 1865 (which I'd also recommend). Upheaval covers the American Revolution and its' impact on world affairs - French revolution and Catherine's Russian empire. Pretty good stuff...
Sorry i will remind him tonight.......he spent his first long weekend grading papers/// Buckeye I will pass along the mesg But we are loving Manny.. we already loved Nomar .. but its our kids who are also getting the job done ... Mat and Andre WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
