You know losing those Indiana recruits has to be killing IU followers! Oden esp is a stud, I remember reading about him as a Soph and his coach was complaining that none of the big programs were showing him much interest. When he complained directly to Coach K, he said that it was clear he would be a #1 NBA pick when he graduated from HS and that he couldn't waste his effort on a kid who probably wouldn't even play college basketball. So you know you have a good one, those other dudes are good also.

I wonder if they will be as good as Lucas, Havilecek and that dude named Knight! :)

    :D

    Terry,

Many rate the income class the best since the group you mention.

I graduated the year prior to their arrival.

Oden will only be there one year then gone to the NBA. The only reason he is going to college for a year is the new rules for entering the NBA. I don't know chapter and verse, but I'm pretty sure he can't go directly to the NBA from HS. Perhaps someone can check me on this.

Matta has made the decision that having Oden for a year could help his future recruiting. IMO, it's a sensible move. I wouldn't do it, but I'm not a big time college BB coach. Matta is a good one.

    Sid,

I agree with most of what you say about Oden, but we are happy to have him for one year! I doubt that he will be converted to stay longer.

Dwayne Cook from Cinncinati is a monster at forward. Reminds me of LeBron in many ways.

P.S. I see you are going on fast time this year.

    Don,

Long story short, most of Indiana will go onto Eastern time year-round starting April 2, including where I live in Ft Wayne. There are several counties near Chicago and in the SW corner of the state near Evansville (tied to St.Louis, believe it or not) who will be on Central time year-round.

Attention ND fans: As of April 2, South Bend will be on Eastern time year-round.

Personally, I have mixed feelings, but I won't bore you with why.

    Don and Stu,

Stu, LOL! Nothing gets by the sharp eyes on this board.

Isn't Oden's teammate, the guard (can't recall his name), coming also? My son, who lives in Indy, has seen some of their games on local TV over the past few years, and he says that the guard is a monster player and a high D-1 prospect. That would be nice, bring in two and keep one. Maybe that is what Matta wants after all is said and done.....the guard for 3-4 years.
