and granted this is a Backroom item but I'm leaving it here till someone moves it... so I can get the message out to the masses. My place caught fire last night after we left to take Carson home. My place, as awesome as it is, has had ongoing electrical issues that have been getting worse for the past year (we have had a computer, ipod radio, coffee maker fried and a literally bolt of electricity shoot from the stove to the ceiling.) Well it finally went boom and thankfully my roommate was there to save the day (and apt).. Everyone is safe.. I just have no idea what my living situation will be for a short while... maybe I will get one of those Obama checks
Corey, Faulty electric problems can be very dangerous indeed. I would say you were very lucky your roommate was in the apartment. Was your landlord aware of these problems? Don
So sorry to hear about the fire Corey. Like Don said electrical fires can be very dangerous. I am somewhat surprised that the circuit breakers or fuses didn't protect. There had to be some kind of short circuit for that to happen. Like others have said, stay safe and keep us informed.
hey kids <r>Yes, the building I live in is a registered historical landmark.. It is probably early 1800s.<br/> <br/> That being said, our current building owner is great...he bought a lemon and is turning it around. The previous landlord was a piece of sh*t..<br/> <br/> True story... Bliss is cooking something.. a bolt of electricity shoots from the eye, off the pot past her ear (missing her head by 2 inches or less easy)...and straight into the ceiling.. Of course, when this happened Bliss jumped out of her skin and spilled what was in the pot..<br/> <br/> We called the landlord and she came down... took one look at the stove top and then blamed Bliss for 'keeping a messy kitchen'.. We explained that the kitchen WAS clean and that was the contents of the pot... She rolled her eyes and left.. she let us know that she would do us a favor and replace the eye on the stove (that had a huge electrical hole/burn in it).<br/> <br/> We once spent 10 days in the middle of July without A/C because her handyman was her son.. Who wasn't a handyman, but rather a panty sniffer (I kid you not)...He would come over every day and nothing was touched...except for the women's panty drawers..<br/> <br/> So needless to say, the idea that she may have misled the poor guy who owns the place now is not a stretch. To his credit, he just keeps doing the right thing and taking his lumps. He is having the electrical fixed in my place today.. new appliances etc.<br/> <br/> Its just the pain in the ass element of being temp homeless at the tail end of winter.. That kinda blows.<br/> <br/> Thanks for all the good words guy. We'll resume duking it out shortly <E></E></r>
Hey Corey, Glad you and yours are safe and sound. That's pretty scary. C'mon up heere and PJ and I will take you out on the town, NY/NJ style. Get your mind off things! 8)
Glad Carson, your roommate, and you are safe and sound. When I read that your computer was fried, my conspiratorial mind first thought about the possibility that whoever was doing the electrical upkeep in the complex just might be an SEC fan, just might read this message board, and decided to do some sabotage If you do not take up George's offer, we do have an extra bedroom as long as you do not mind sharing a bed with a 95lb Goldendoodle named after Lloyd Carr. I was going to make a joke about your chances of surviving Anne's cooking but the thought that an in-jest posting on a public bulletin bpard wondering how someone who is addicted 24/7 to the Food Channel can still only make the same 6 meals taught to her by her Mom could end up in her e-mail inbox caused me not to pull the trigger on that joke. Seriously, I am glad you are fine as that really was a dangerous situation
95lbs??????? What the heck are you feeding that pup? Googling GoldenDoodle weight comes back with 50lbs being the average weight of the Standard GoldenDoodle. You really need to cut back on the ice cream after dinner!!
Bobda, I hope your wife doesn't read this forum. GoldenDoodle, sounds like some dog. It must be a mix with a standard poodle and not miniature poodle! 95 pounds is a big dog.
Rumors are that DVD player malfunctioned after playing the Gator Bowl disc 25 straight times. Glad your safe.
TOK and GB, the size of GDs vary a lot since the breed is still new. He has put on a few pounds since moving to Wisconisn but still is in good shape. He is taller than nearly all of the GDs I have met. Lloyd's dad was a standard poodle. I sent TOK a picture to defend my poor dog's honor re his physical fitness.
