I ordered a Samsung 52 in HDTV this week and hope to have it operational by Wednesday next week. Who knows, I might give up my seasons ticket and traveling weekends to watch the games at home.
Bill... dont commit to Samsung until u check out Sony Bravia 52 HDTV. I researched them all and ended up with the 52 inch sony...great great piece of equipment!! joel
Thanks Joel, only thing is I have committed, it's in the mail. I'm sure the Sony is awesome but I expect this Samsung is going to be fine also. Hey guy, glad to hear from you.
I looked at them just last night. I couldn't tell the difference between the Sony and the Samsung. I was looking at the 52" LED's, 1080P, 240hz...pretty expensive all in the 3500-4000 range. Amazing picture. You could find them much cheaper with the older technology though.
That 240hz is what you're paying for. I rather doubt you can see a dif between that and the 120hz... To keep up with Bill I ordered these, and they should be arriving any day!
Huskerman, "Why is it that a man's worth is always measured in inches..." Please explain what this had to do with a new TV Set? Don
AJ, I almost bought the 55 inch, I don't know what it means that I went with the smaller inches. Terry, mine is LCD, I didn't even look at the led's.
Bill I have a 52 in. Samsung and love the damn thing. My only regret is that they didn't have HD TV when I had HD eyes.
I boght it from Amazon, no shipping, no sales tax. That's the good news, the bad news is that I couldn't buy it without my wife getting a new entertainment center to hold it which cost more than the tv! The cost of domestic tranquility.
I have two Samsungs, a 46" and a 39". I really like them. Bill, you will like it. I bought the 46" because it's all the size I need for where it's located, and I could not tell the difference side by side in the store between the 46" and the 52". At the time I bought the bigger one, 120hz was the new technology. After standing in the aisle at the store and spending 10-15 minutes looking at the exact same same scenic/action video program (running on all the displays at the same time) on both sets, side by side, I was unable to distinguish any difference between them in terms of the clarity of all types of shots....scenery closeups and panoramas, facial closeups, racing cars, football action, etc. Plus, the non-120hz set was on sale and at the time was about $800 less than the 120hz. I never looked back on my decision. I can't imagine that there is a better HD picture out there than what I get on my Samsungs. Joel, I know that Sony makes a great set. I really liked the Sonys, but in the end it boiled down to price and the swivel feature whereby you can swivel the set on its base for the best viewing angles.
exactly, Sid. My sony does not swivel. I have it kitty korner, and on a few occasions i slid the base an inch or 2 one way or another. jif
Sid, I started out researching a 46 and found Samsung highly rated and settled on them. Then in looking at the size and the distance of our couch from the set decided the 52 would be a better size and just stuck with the Samsung. Terry, you asked before where I bought it and I said Amazon but didn't say the price. On the Samsung site it's listed as $2,899, I got it from Amazon for $2,038 with free shipping and no tax. I do a lot of business with Amazon these days. They have good prices and deliver on time.
