Mack Brown announces street party!! Rhett Bomar and an OL named Quinn, apparently did the get a paycheck and don't work thing at a local car dealership. I guess somebody ratted them out and Stoops hand was forced. I wonder if they will publically finger a particular individual (booster) and disassociate him from the program and take away his season tickets. Also I wonder if they will look a little closer at Adrian Petersons (OU AA RB) deal with this same car dealership where he got to "test" drive a Lexus for about 6 to 8 weeks. OU Players Out Terry
Good question, Terry. It got me digging. I wonder if it's the same dealer. Read the last sentence in this article.
I want BLOOD! This is MUCH WORSE than what brought the NCAA hammer down on the Aggies back in 92. Then our guys were sleeping through their chores in a shed at the worksite, but were only paid normal wages. This joker was being paid $300/hour!! When combined with the Peterson shenanigans, and the recent basketball crap surely this is LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL!!!
 - The "Sooner Schooner Car Program"...are you kidding me? How many millions of dollars does Stoops make per year? He can't afford to buy his own car? Why does that program even exist? - Adrian Peterson's free car was "normal business practice"... Where is it normal to allow a local college kid to drive a brand-new free car? - I'm amazed that someone ratted these kids out now. USC would have saved this info until UCLA Week, like they did when they exposed DeShaun Foster's free car deal in the LA Times...
Bomar is an idiot, there is no way that he didn't know what he was doing was big time wrong. I can't believe his dad allowed it to happen either, if I remember correctly Daddy Bomar is in the same class with Reggie Bushes stepfather and a lof of other "tennis dad's" whose sons are football players instead. Lovecchio and Olsen are ND QB's who's fathers saw NFL stardom for their average QB sons. I'll bet the booster told Daddy and Rhett that everybody does and that the coaches know it. Of course they were idiots to believe him though. They probably deluded themselves into thinking that Rhetts association with the dealership was going to bring in so many customers that 300/hr was clearly justified, probably convinced them it was below market value. I remember that Aggie scandal. If I remember correctly that the booster was disassociated from the program and t hey tried to get his season tickets but they were in his wifes name. Terry
Okie QB <r>I have watched this kid on a couple of repeat broadcasts of last year's games and was not impressed. I know it was his first year but he didn't look all that great to me and made a lot of bad decisions. When I looked him up today on rivals I see that he was THE #1 QB in the nation for 2004 and rated 5 stars!! Needless to say, that really surprised me a lot. Doesn't matter anymore I guess because he is gone...... <E>8)</E></r>
As usual the Texas Longhorns were the first to show the world that Bomar was taking money on the side.
That thread was emailed to ESPN last week by some guys that remembered it. I'd be interested to see what kind of follow-up they get...
I came across the link on, of all places, a Sun Devil board. I'm shocked, shocked to find boosters paying players in college football.
I found it on the InsideTexas board, I imagine it was also on OrangeBlood.co as well. I myself am totally shocked, I thought that Stoops was merely an arrogant prick ( a couple of 60pt beatings fostered that feeling), but not a cheater!!
Bob Stoops dismissed the players from the team, yet you think he's a cheater? Wow. You do hold a grudge.
Question that the thread you linked to seems to bring to light, is when did he know it and did he give them the heave ho only when faced with the fact he couldn't cover it up any more. OU has a history of cheating and gun battles to rival any Miami shootout. We at the pristine University of Texas are frequently appalled at what those trailer trash in Oklahoma will do to win a game!
