You're talking about the same Devil Rays who came to Houston and got taken to the cleaners by a lowly NL Central Club? Maybe the NL wins the Series this year. Cubs are now bolstered by a Notre Dame man in the bullpen!
I keep waiting for the Rays to fade but they just won't die. Mix in those key injuries to Sox/Yanks pitchers and things are setting up nicely for Tampa. Still, there's a ways to go.
JIF, I don't think the Yankees have any chance to catch Tampa; I think you guys have a slim chance. The Yankees only chance is the WC and that is slipping away as well but still within reach. Probably a moot point because the Angels are light years better than Boston or New York or anyonyone else for that matter. Losing all the pitchers ( Wang, Chamberlain and Hughes)were tough but I think the loss of Matsui was a killer. Posada is the real captain of this team and his loss was the toughest of all; Jeter is no leader. Posada being gone changed the whole lineup because he is a switch hitter. The biggest problem with the Yankees is that only Abreu and Giambi have played up to par. Jeter, Cano and A-Rod have not hit in the clutch at all. But injuries are part of the game.....
Longoria and Crawford to the DL, Baldelli just back. Rays have like 26 of 45 remaining games on the road. They can hang on, but it will be it won't be a breeze. Sox' losing record on the road is worrisome.
