I wonder how many Neb fans will make the trip, and how will you tell them in their red from the OSU fans in their red?
There has been no discussion of NE's phenomenal comeback vs. WI. I watched and learned some things about both teams. 1) WI is way down this year from its prior outstanding teams. 2) Montee Ball is not a candidate for the Heisman. 2) NE at home has the crowd as its 12th man. 3) NE can overcome a slow start due to turnovers. 4) When it gets rolling, NE's offense is impressive. 5) NE's defense is very good. WI scored most of its points off NE turnovers in NE territory. I could be dead wrong (look at my poor pick'em record), but I don't see OSU as the favorite.
I am going to be in Columbus this Saturday .... at a wedding and reception. If I can sneak over to the Shoe Maybe Don can get me in.... maybe I can dot the "I" ?
Thanks for the kind words Sid, a gentleman as always. NU seems to only put in 2 good qtrs per game so far. Against UCLA it was the 2nd and 3rd, unfortunately the 4th did us in. Against better competition, NU has been diggin itself a hole due to execution and turnovers. I will say the Wisky game was the first this year that the defense started taking things personal, and made things happen. They will need to play a near perfect game Sat nite to beat OSU. Mobile QB's have given us fits so far this year, and Miller will be one of the best we see. The secondary is really young. Pelini has 2 true freshman starting because he likes their intensity better than a couple of Jr's and Sr's he has. The downfall there is the rash of pass interference calls we've seen the last 2 games, to include blown coverages. Ahmeer Abdullah (RB) is the slice and dice we need in the backfield. OC Beck does a good job of rotating schemes around him and Burkhead who doesn't dazzle you with anything other than a tough hardnose runner. Martinez has had his best stats of any year so far, and seems more and more confident. But I happen to agree with Doc O....the kid is a turnover machine waiting to happen. Plus if the pressure gets really thick, the fog of war really affects his judgement. he doesn't get as rattled as he used to, but you can still see it. The best improvements so far are the lines, especially the front 4 of Defense. Their finally getting to the QB, but we are missing so many tackles that a QB like Miller will eat that up. I envision a game plan what they designed against VaTech and Tyrod Taylor a couple of years ago. Contain Miller and concentrate on the running game, and hope to God the secondary can shut passing lanes down. Win the war of containment, and give the offense the time to score. Personally, I'm thinking....scratch that...I KNOW this is a RED LETTER game for OSU, and if NU doesn't get on the nasty motivation train from the onstart, OSU will have their revenge in year 2.
I hear ya Don....however (pause for effect)......doesn't this make ya a little bit nervous? http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8448799/ohio-state-buckeyes-rb-jordan-hall-doubtful-torn-pcl-knee
AJ, Naw, I am confident about this game, even if our star TB is out with a knee injury! Should be a great game. Which QB has the best game will determine the winner. GO Bucks!
George, Missed your earlier post about being in town this Saturday. Hope you have a great time. I am afraid I would not be much help on getting into the game!
I ALREADY TALKED ABOUT THIS!!... http://www.omaha.com/article/20121001/BIGRED/710019863 BTW, I kinda feel pretty smart right now...
This is cool...I couldn't help but notice that Braxton Miller has a Tattoo though?....
