Reversing the trend by many large universities, Ohio State students have purchased the entire allocated tickets for the coming season. From Warriors 11 web site: In a climate where student attendance at college football games is declining, the ticketing office sold a total of 29,614 student ticket packages compared to 26,304 in 2013 and 25,798 in 2012 — which is nearly a 15-percent increase over three years.
Decent home schedule. IMO, the 3 non-conference opponents are tougher than the 3 non-MI conference opponents.
Sid, We have two tough games on the road, Penn State at night late October and Michigan State in East Lansing. The Navy game will be played in Baltimore and that is not a given either.
There have been several articles written on the decline in student attendance at Michigan and other schools. Ohio State is going against the trend, what has OSU done differently than other schools?
Terry, I am not aware of any creative marketing by the university. I do know they are very interested in providing students with wifi capabilities in the stadium itself during football games. I am not sure how they plan to accomplish that feat, but it's something the students would love!
Nah, I just got that off the web. When ever I have taken a lesson where they used video I always shake my head when I look at my setup and swing and the chunky old dude doing it!!! That swing looks great compared to mine, a picture of me on a par 3 over the lake would usually have a splash off to the right!
This I will do: http://www.gatorzone.com/story.php?id=28360&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=wall%20post&utm_campaign=football%20mini%20plan%202014 You can tell ticket sales are slipping in Gainesville when they resort to something like this.
Before Mack Brown arrived in Austin, during the Mackovic years, you could literally buy game tickets at ticketmaster type of outlets in grocery stores on Friday night before a Sat game.
My Michigan friend Crazy John pointed me to this article. Kind of an eye opener. http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/road-saturday/201406/college-football-fan-stadium-students-business-tv-ncaa-michigan-tickets
Not to pick on the Gators, but their non-conf schedule besides FSU is pretty unappealing. Eastern Mich, Idaho and Eastern Kentucky. Of course in those packages that Dave posted they only want $25 for tickets to those games...which is fair. Which of course makes me wonder why Ohio State is bucking the trend. Are their ticket prices more inline with student budgets? They do have 2 opponents who are major conference teams for non-conf in Va.Tech and Cincy, and Kent State is a MAC school from the neighborhood so I couild see the interest. But don't tell JIF that you are playing Navy!!!
FSU is the number one ranked team in the nation..... and the Gators play at their place. UF also plays a MAC school.... for what that's worth. Strength wise I think UF wins that argument solidly. Interest wise at home? Not so much. It's a big reason I gave up the season tix. But I would be interested in a 3 game package that had LSU and Mo. in it.
