This should be a good game between two teams, who have the ability to put up some serious points. If we can not interrupt Baker Mayfield's rhythm and get a few sacks, it might be a long evening for the Buckeyes. Our defensive backs will be challenged all night long. I am anxious to see how Meyer handles the running backs in this contest. Dobbins looked great last week in his first start with Indiana. Looks like Weber will be ready to play this week. Defensively we should be in a good position. I think that plus not turning the ball over may be the difference maker by games end.
Big game for the B12 as well as OU. Given that the Buckeyes went to OU last year and pounded them AND OU has a new coach and new rbs I don't expect a win, but it would be huge if they could pull out a win..
Terry, Unfortunately, Ohio State has lost the last three of the first-night games here at home. USC, Texas and Virginia Tech. I do not know if that is a good or bad omen for tomorrow night?
All I know is that while Baker Mayfield is a very good college QB, he didn't do much against you guys last year. I'd say that OSU has the edge here, it will be Lincoln Riley's first big game as a head coach and he's going against one of the modern greats.
Maybe we should not schedule any more night games in the shoe. Our record is not the best and losing to the Sooners this evening did not help the situation. Poor pass protection and J T was not ever really in the game. Our offense was nonexisting. Baker Mayfield put on quite a show. Even our defense did not show up.
I didn't see any of the game, but I am more than a little surprised that the Sooners not only won the game but some what decisively. Maybe they are for real, the B12 isn't strong so they could run the table if this wasn't a fluke.
Don, Stu...what is the fan base thinking after the OU loss. It is just one loss and it is to a pretty good football team even though it was at the Shoe. So season is hardly over, wining the division and the championship is still out there and if you run off a streak beating PSU and UM and winning the B1G likely to be in the playoffs again. Any call for a change at QB?
Terry, Most OSU fans seem to think a change in QB is required. I am not buying into that just yet, Our offensive game plans in the first two games has been very questionable in my opinion. I would love to know if Wilson is really doing what he would like to do, or is Urban a fly in the ointment? Meyer is not saying too much, but I doubt he is going to demote J.T. because the fans want a change. Our defense did not play up to par either. Nexxt couple of game should be patsies, so we will see what happens.
A. We're good B. We're not THAT good C. We'll get better D. We've seen enough of JT to know his abilities E. Backup QB recovering from injury and 3rd string phenom not ready F. JT is a team leader and captain G. Ohio State fans always go into suicide watch when we lose H. This goes for everybody; you're not as good as you think when you win, and you're not as bad as you think when you lose I. We may have been beaten by the best team in the country J. I'm more worried about our secondary than our QB
Some nice observations, Stu, universally applicable. Let me paraphrase one of them: Another astute observation from Stu the Guru (Sorry, couldn't resist): As you inferred, fans of all teams would do well to believe this.
Social Media and Kids are pretty much out of control. A few Ohio State recruits are calling for a change at QB, Herby tries to tell them to dial it back that it's not their place. They don't seem to respect his opinion. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/13/16304348/ohio-state-football-jt-barrett-jackson-carman-micah-parsons-kirk-herbstreit
I think these young men should be banned from Twitter and be sent to Florida to pick up all the loose oranges on the ground from the hurricane Irma.
