This could be a very interesting game. Both teams are hurting from player suspensions. We could be without seven starters, unless reinstatement by the NCAA, of two players prior the Miami game. Buckeyes are still trying to find some consistency in the rushing game and we have a talented, but young defensive squad. This will be our first road game and current odds give Miami a 1 point edge. In my opinion the winner of the game will weigh heavily upon the success of the QB play on both teams.
Harris has had his ups and downs, but I still think he can be dangerous with our young and inexperienced defensive backs. Time will tell.
Hmmmmm, let me see..... We'll be missing one of our top offensive lineman, top two running backs, top wide receiver, top corner and perhaps our top DE, first year starter at QB looked erratic at best in his last outing and our defense, tho missing several starters was run roughshod by the Toledo Rockets......I'm not optimistic about putting these kids on a plane to play a night game in a hostile stadium against a talented team getting back to full strength......l
Besure the team and coaches are on alert to not sign up for any Ponzi...er investment programs while they are down there!
Not sure that's entirely fair.... Let's Cut Bauserman Some Slack Intersting comments about the play calling too.
Ok, ok Stu.....perhaps I was a bit harsh. The young man was 16-30, completely whiffed on at least 2 wide open TD passes, but to his credit, no turnovers. I stand corrected. First year starter often appeared erratic but didn't turn the ball over.....in any event, he needs to play well for us to compete in Miami.
Rather ironic that fans used to complain about Pryor throwing in to double coverage and being intercepted. Bauserman chose to throw the ball away a number of times rather than have an interception. Fan booed which I thought was very distasteful. Thats are fan base as it always will be. (Fickle)
The three players suspended for the first two games have been reinstated by the NCAA.! We need all the help we can muster for Saturday night.
Sorry for not responding earlier, work has been a little overwhelming lately. I honestly do not know what to expect from this game. Miami got back 3 or 4 who were suspended the first game but still have 3 that will not be elgible to play in this game. Jacory Harris was reinstated and named the starting QB but this does not bring reassurance to Cane fans with his history of being the giving person that he is with the football to the opposing teams. Stephen Morris did a fine job last week as QB even though it was nothing spectacular but he made great decisions. He threw a pick in the final 50 seconds on fourth down but that sealed the game for Maryland but I don't blame him for that. One concern is Ohio St. has had the luxury to go vanilla on the first couple games and will come out with a twist to confuse the young Cane team on defense with starters still missing. I look for us to attempt to run,run and run some more with a few play action plays involved and keep Harris from throwing interceptions. Someone told me that Ohio St vs Miami game is now being called the inelgible bowl...?
That would be the Ineligibowl. http://www.cleveland.com/livingston/index.ssf/2011/09/ohio_state_vs_miami_its_time_t.html
I really thought the media might have a field day when Miami and Ohio State played. Thus far it has been almost unnoticeable. Ralph, sorry to see you have been so busy, hope the ledger on the other side makes it worthwhile. It should be noted we have ten players on our roster from Florida. I doubt Miami has any from Ohio??
Ralph, I just don't know what to think about this game.....we should be improved over last week but are still missing a great deal of firepower on the offensive side of the ball. I don't expect us to come out firing on the road with a first year starter at QB and with the exception of the TE, a receiving corps so inexperienced that they don't know what they don't know......I expect the defense to play well, but if they have to stay on the field all game and not force turnovers, it could be a long night.....I just can't see our kids putting alot of points on the board.
Comment on Mike and Mike this morning. "It's Miami vs Ohio St. in a game where none of the rules will be enforced."
Our young men made bad decisions.....no question. In hindsight they could have made a better choice than swapping a trinket for a tat, like regularly getting drunk and menacing society with a deadly weapon. In some places they would have missed fewer games, if any at all. But, rules are rules.....
We get three back for Miami and lose one of our key defensive players. From late breaking news in the Columbus Dispatch: OSU defensive coordinator Jim Heacock said after practice today Williams underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the day. Heacock wouldn’t speculate on Williams’ recovery time, though he didn’t think it would be anything out of the ordinary for the minor procedure.
Ouch.....that is huge. That's gonna allow the Miami front to pay more attention to Simon inside and give Jacory or whomever additional time to get rid of the ball reducing the chances that Jacory will be as helpful to us as he was last year. He was one of our best all around and versatile defenders and a leader on the defense. It's gonna take a supreme effort from our kids, the young coach and his staff.
