Today the Buckeyes will try to do something, no other Ohio State team has been able to accomplish, win 23 straight games. Ohio State is favored by 34 1/2 points, which seems a bit ridiculous to me, based on previous encounters with the Hoosiers. Granted Indiana currently has some serious problems on the defensive side of the ball, but that certainly did not make any difference last year in Bloomington. GO BUCKS!
With all that said, extraordinary precautions are being taken in Columbus at the Shoe. A disaster relief team will be staging at the open end; the Red Cross and FEMA will also be bivouacked on site and the Ohio National Guard will handle crowd control. The Math Team from M.I.T. will handle the official scoring. Dr. Phil will be available as a special coach for the Hoosiers and Geraldo Rivera will be the guest play by play announcer. Take the Buckeyes. Lay the points.
Yeah I gave the points in my Yahoo pick'em contest that uses point spreads. I struggled with whether or not to give the 57 points to Idaho in the FSU game. I still remember Wanda from back in the Prodigy days, no bigger Buckeye fan existed and she was booked to the Rose Bowl the year that Ohio State was undefeated, ranked #1, was playing "Basketball on Grass" offense...till Nick Satan and Mich State beat them. I don't think we ever heard from Wanda again. I do know that Stu has said Wanda developed Alzheimers and was in a facility, so very sad end which had nothing to do with tOSU football though. So Don!!! Don't go off the rails should the unthinkable happen!!
 I remember WANDA!..She took some of my taunting serious..and we exchanged unpleasant conversation. Imagine anyone taking me serious
Yes Wanda was an avid Buckeye Fan. Hard to reason with her at times, but still someone I will always remember. I did visit her a couple times in the rehab center, but you had to keep the conversation pretty light. Jerry use to visit her as well and his experience was very similar. It has been a long time since those Prodigy days, and I was a newbie to computing at that time. Dial up days are long gone.
Same here, Don. My, we've come a long way. I'm setting the over/under for OSU's total offense at 700. For IU fans, it's going to be as ugly as ugly can get.
We failed to cover the spread, but we now have won 23 straight games! Seeing snow on the ground looked unreal for this early in the season. Our game plan was to keep the ball on the ground, and Braxton and Carlos pretty much had their way with the Hoosiers. The Wolverines are up next. I do not think we have to worry about Baylor any more in the BCS Standings.
Down goes Frazier...err Baylor. I have a funny feeling about that game at Ann Arbor, UM is way overdue to pull an upset with you guys. I'm sure they'll pull out all the stops! Stu's friend Big John probably letting the air out of Stu's tires as I type!
If I had a dollar for every time the underdog won this game I would be a rich man. Working for us is the fact that the visiting team seems to win a lot as well.
Terry, Granted there have been a number of upsets in this rivalry, but I personally do not think the Wolverines will give us too much trouble Saturday. Michigan beating us and ending the win streak would be a cruel blow!
There will be no excuse against that team up North. I expect OSU to post style points well into the fourth quarter.
Kes, I suspect you may be right on target! Nice win for your team yesterday. I should have given them more points!
Right now, the most popular thread on the Michigan thread is estimating the Vegas line for next week. Most are prognosticating a 14-18 point spread. Only the delusional are contemplating a possible upset. With State clinching the division and Rich Rod's Wildcats drubbing Oregon, the mood in Wolvieland falls into the pitchfork and tar category. The fundamental problem is the offense. The offensive line play has been horrific; Gardner, as the year has passed, transformed from a confident dual threat QB to a shell of what he was when playing ND: he holds onto the ball way too long; when he scrambles, it usually results in his backpedaling backwards and taking a big loss; he fails to throw the ball away under pressure and passes inaccurately. Bottom line is that he his playing without any confidence. While I respect Jo Co and Corey's football knowledge and realize they are Borges fans, I am pretty certain that if they watched closely M's offense this year as I have, they would be reevaluating their opinions. Basically, his play calling this year lacks any continuity. We have now played 11 games and we have still failed to figure out if we are going to be a team that will move the ball by emphasizing the run and playing smash mouth or run a more finesse offense that spreads the defense to move the ball. Instead, our offense this year has seemed to embrace a grab bag philosophy switching back and forth from a run to a pass oriented offense without demonstrating an ability to do either well. Obviouly, one reason for this may be that while M does have talent, they are young. But, well coached teams that are young demonstrate improvement as the season goes on with the players improving as they gain experience each week. But, in our case, the reverse is true as the offense has regressed rather than impvoved. The other major problem is our inability to compete with physical teams. MSU, Nebraska, and Iowa pushed us around and I suspect that next Saturday will be the same. Reasons for potential optimism for the future are that Hoke's recent recruiting classes have been quite good. But, the decline in play this year as the season went on does not make me overly optimistic that things will markedly change next year.
Bobda, based on Gardner's mediocrity following the ND game, is Michigan going to take away his #98 jersey?
Because poor kid has hit so much the past 5 games, it looks like the '9' has been rubbed off his jersey. Hard to throw a football when two linebackers are trying to plant you face first into the field turf. Hopefully someone will stuff some offensive linemen who can block into his Christmas stocking.
