Looking forward to a new season, new coach, new offense and glad 2011 is behind us.

Anything will be better than last season and all the distractions.

General feeling seems to be a 9-3 season with no bowl game in the cards.

Michigan here in The Shoe will be our bowl game! :p

Is Meyer going to run the same offense he ran at UF with Tim Tebow? Your QB is probably a better runner than Tebow, maybe not quite the bulldozer Tebow was inside the 10yd line, but more elusive.

He was pretty awful throwing the ball last year when I saw him, how has that progressed?

It seems like so many of the dual-threat QB's are not good passers coming out of high school. Texas has a kid named Swopes who is a big and fast QB and considered the best dual threat QB in the country. But in those passing camps like the "Elite 11" he showed he's got a long way to go to be a decent passer in college.

    Don,

Don't forget about that other team OSU has never beaten in B10 play.

Ohio State/Neb...at Columbus....sea of Red (er Scarlet). Huskers will have never seen so many people in Red (er Scarlet) hollering bad things at them! It will be unsettling! :)

    Terry,

Urban seems to think Braxton Miller will be an ideal QB for his offense. One weakness we do have is skilled receivers. Jordan Hall who was to be a Percy Harvin type of player cut the tendon on his right foot and probably will not play until the third game.

Carolos Hyde at tailback will be solid for the running game.

Defense could end up being the best defense in the B1g Ten by seasons end.

    AJ,

We had your butts whipped last season in Lincoln, until Miller went down!

Good news for the Buckeyes today in that Nathan Williams, defense end, has been cleared for limited game action Saturday. He missed a good portion of last season with a knee injury.

Ohio State looked pretty bad after the first quarter, allowing Miami of Ohio 165 yds through the air and going scoreless thmeselves.

The last three quarters were quite different in an opening game win of 56-10.
Braxton Miller put on quiite a show and set a new rushing record for the Buckeyes by a QB. Ohio State ammased 550 yards on offense and had a well balanced attack.

The Redhawks did not have any rushing yardage to speak of and that was the difference. Zack Dysert really has a good arm and a couple of talented receivers, but they were no match for the Buckeyes in the home opener.

Picked up this information on another group which I found interesting about Braxton Miller's performance yesterday.

Braxton Miller had 368 total yard (207 passing, 161 rushing) today
against Miami (OH) compared to Tim Tebow's 338 total yards in his debut as
a starter under Urban Meyer in 2007 (300 passing, 38 rushing) against
    Western Kentucky.

Urban said Miller is the best athlete he has ever coached. The one thing about Urban's offense is that if the QB can run, he doesn't have to be a HOF passer. Just good enough, because his running will open up the passing for easy throws to wide open receivers.

Miller is the "best athlete he's ever coached?"

    Jim,

Entirely two different types of QB. Miller is an extremely gifted athlete, but not the power type QB that Tebow was at Florida.

Time will tell but I do think he has the potential to be a real winner for the Buckeyes.

Coach O'Leary and his Golden Knights are headed back to Ohio for invasion of The Shoe Saturday, should be an interesting and more challenging game than Miami of Ohio.

UCF seems to have a great deal of talent and will provide a good measuring stick for the Buckeyes to see where we stand. Their starting tailback has a shoulder injury and may not play.

Game will be televised by ESPN2 at noon EST.

Great opener and welcome home for Coach Meyer and the kids....

I expect the offense to improve continually this season as the young QB and players gain experience and learn the system. Miller is an extraordinary talent and the system fits him well. Clearly he is much more explosive than Tebow and a greater threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field - as we saw Saturday - but nowhere near as physical and/or durable. We'll see how he holds up as the season progresses....I think the offense will take another step forward upon the return of Jordan Hall.

Disappointed in the defense early given the number of blown coverages, but I expect them to get that sorted out, we have alot of talent and experience on that side of the ball. Great to see Nate Williams back, this group can be very, very good.

No doubt Miller is more explosive than Tebow. But on the goal line and 3rd and short Tebow was almost unstoppable. He was a Full Back playing QB.

No doubt he was a very effective short yardage runner and that will never be Miller's role.....we have fullbacks and 230 lb running backs for that.

Actually it was interesting to watch Meyer work an inside power running game into his mix....he inherited some big strong and fast traditional I backs with this squad...perhaps gives him an added dimension.
