I know you Buckeye fans have got to be kicking the dog right about now but Navy is making this a game with 2:23 left in the fourth quarter.... RC
What a turn of events....several times.....just what you would expect from the Mids. Congrats to the Mids for a gutty effort. A victory and no injuries......a successful opener. Time to get ready for our visitors from Troy! They should be licking their chops.... ! Bring it....8)
I <t>Was really impressed with the Navy QB throwing the football. They are not fun to play.<br/> The Buckeys will have to turn it up next Saturday and I think they will so I will take USC in a close one. Hope I am wrong.</t>
Interesting game and Rolle probably saved our butts with that interception or the game would have going into OT. Defense is young and too many third downs completetions by the Midshipmen. Petry really nailed that 52 yard field goal. Terrell played a pretty solid game except for that over throw that was intercepted. Next week is going to be tough, even here at home. Don
Don, didn't get a chance to see the game....looking forward to watching the replay. Consensus I've gathered thus far from media and friends is: 1) TP looked real good early and threw it well from the pocket. Didn't run much. Coach T let Bauserman in with the ones early and may have lost some offensive rhythm? 2) OL run blocking disappointing....Saine looks to be back to form after an injury filled last year 3) Defensively, too many 3rd and shorts - easy conversions for the mids 4) Safety play - Russel - horrid....questions at LB with Spitler? 5) Really bad decision to go for it deep in Navy territory mid-4th qtr Teams are said to improve the most between the first and second games....let's hope so. The young SC QB Barkley ooked pretty good....let's see how he makes decisions with silver helmets flying in his face and 106,000 in his head... I think our kids will be ready....
Navy has been a quality team since Paul Johnson arrived and their current head coach has continued that. You can not let up on those guys and think you have it won or they will do just what they did to Ohio State, not quit and just keep coming at you. We experienced that last year where we had a comfortable lead and just tried to run out the clock and ended up in a dogfight (dogfish shark!) with those guys down to the last minute. But really I'm so proud of those Navy guys, they are the ones who will be protecting us so it's good to see the never say die attitude and the fight to the finish approach to the game. I'm sure our old pal Jif is shocked and suprised that Navy could hang with a top B10 team. He always made fun of the Irish for playing them. As BT said, nobody hurt, win under your belts, bring on USC.
Navy was moving the ball very well vs. the OSU defense and that alone would be a huge concern for me if I was Ohio State. We're talking NAVY here. Good thing it's not Sanchez coming in to the Shoe. It was a win though and now OSU can look for that mystical second game improvement thingy for next week. I'll stick with my prediction of a close OSU win over USC.
Krebsie, I'm just hoping SC doesn't run the Navy option attack! With all the cut blocking the Mids do - nothing dirty mind you - I'm just thrilled that none of our defensive lineman got dinged up! They should have enough giddy up to make the SC O-line work hard and the young QB think faster than he is comfortable with...... I'm guessing you'll see a little more intensity from these kids Saturday nite and something a little different from the staff as well.....I could be wrong but I don't think so.....we'll see. 8)
Ya know, you beat those guys 40 somethin' times in a row, lost to them once and everyone thinks it's a devistating loss. Beating those guys is never easy.
