So what do you all think of this? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...aepernick-explains-protest-of-national-anthem
Meh, he's not going to make any friends doing this but it's not against the law. There was a basketball player for the Denver Nuggets a while ago who wouldn't stand for the Nat'l Anthem and eventually the Nuggets had him stay in the lockeroom till after it was sung. Mostly he just looks stupid. It might be something if he was joined by all of his black teammates and black players around the league but he's not. In fact if you noticed when a black Olympian had a chance to by winning, they all wrapped themselves in the flag and made comments about how proud they were to represent the USA.
What won't be reported by the media is that he converted to Islam in the off-season and is engaged to a black lives activist..Starting to see a trend here..
Honestly it's his right if he doesn't want to acknowledge the flag and I really do understand that. But dig a little deeper and a agenda lurks in the background. So many sacrifices have been made by those who never had the chance to complain about it or tear it apart. It seems that the most noise comes from those who have been given more than others wether it's sports, celebrities or anyone with access to the media. Meanwhile the folks getting up on a daily basis for the majority of their lives to pay the bills quietly get up and get the job done.
Firsts of all, it's been obvious from the beginning that the BLM and all the lies that have been manufactured have but one purpose and that is to incite the black community to vote for a rich white hag. They're funded by folks like George Soros and will quickly disappear once the election is over. What we have in CK is someone who was born with the black victim gene and thinks life's unfair. Of course he also was dealt the top athlete gene and is able to be in the top 1% of incomes. Naturally if you ask him it wasn't a freak of nature but he earned it. Hundreds of thousands of dead Unions soldiers, 3 Constitutional amendments, the Civil Rights Acts, affirmative action, black president, and it isn't enough and WILL NEVER be enough. And that's why I refuse to care one f'n bit about any of this type of complaint.
I think he's free to do it. I think one of the beautiful things about the sacrifices made for this flag and our song is that we don't fight for obedience, we fight so that we are free to bite the hand that feeds us. By that same token, I am free to say 'F*ck that dude' and make sure that I never spend one penny on anything he has anything to do with. Just my 2 cents. I am a consumer with a teenage son playing football who buys thousands of dollars in sporting goods merchandise each year. When people like me talk with our wallets, people listen. This dude is on the verge of losing his job, anyway. I find his spike in moral compass a bit odd and it sets up nicely for a 'they got rid of me because I was a problem' story line, when the reality is that he's about to just get beat out. Never forget the immortal words of Jerry Glanville, and never lose sight of what the NFL really stands for.
Corey, you are absolutely correct. There is no law about standing for the National Anthem. Nor should there be. If there is any backlash it should be economic. We'll see.
I remember the mockery of Tim Tebow when he would kneel in silent prayer on the sidelines or after a game. Nobody wanted spirituality to intrerrupt a football game. Now another convention is under attack. This statement totally grounded in BS. While he did not tacitly say it, he clearly is basing his argument on his concept of police brutality. So he makes alame gesture of anti-patriotism. I would expect Roger Goodell to outlaw the national anthem at any moment. Where is Dick Butkus when you need him?
If he makes the team, don't be shocked to see someone channel their inner Rick Monday and plant his ass in the ground. Sometimes, you sit to make a point. Sometimes, you take a 15 yard penalty to make a point. Everything comes with a cost, and at times those costs collide.
The best PR move that could happen would be to can his ass and bring in Tim Tebow. He may but be the second coming of Joe Montanna or Steve Young, but at least his moral compass is intact.
Bill, that is the other side of the equation. The public (us) is entitled to withhold our support and make it as uncomfortable as possible on the 49ers and the NFL.
in a way, this shithead pulled a brilliant career move. He's in a city that won't kill him for pulling a dipshit move. He was literally on the verge of being cut and now he's put an excuse bubble around his ass. I think the only reasons the Niners have held onto him is: 1. It will be a publicity nightmare to fire the guy right now 2. He may bring some value to the club if the Niners can talk the Vikings into looking past the fact that this dude is a dipshit. They just lost Teddy Bridgewater for at least a year in a horrific injury, Their backup is a sack of potatoes. The Vikings are a potential playoff team with a RB who is good enough to take the heat off Chief Sitsinshame. I bet if they can't get value for him, he'll get cut.
While you can hardly say this trend is spreading, Kap is getting some love from other players and even a woman's soccer player supporting him. In the case of the woman's soccer player, the owner decided to do the Nat'l Anthem before the team came out, the player was pissed that she didn't get to do her protest. This is what Denver Nuggets did with their player who wouldn't stand for the Nat'l Anthem, in his case they just kept him in the lockeroom till it was over. But what I do wonder is if we will see any fans in the stands supporting this and sit for the Nat'l Anthem. Will any sideline personnel sit, coaches, etc? I didn't see anybody sitting anywhere at the Texas/ND game.
I saw where the Coach of Team USA Hockey said anybody who sits during the Nat'l Anthem will remain sitting for the game.
