This may look familiar. It even features some familiar faces. The defense rests, your honor. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TXr1LjtsAIw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TXr1LjtsAIw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
George did USC do the same thing in that video that the article says should have been called, using substitutions to confuse? I couldn't tell from the video, unless that guy out wide fit that description.
Yeah Pete Carroll said that both USC and Oregon have run that play a couple of years ago but they outlawed it like they did the Bummerooski...sometimes called the Fumblerooski.
Well if I remember correctly it has to do with the defense being able to clearly see who's on the offense and it's considered deceptive to when changing player groups to have 1 player not leave the field and stand over on the sideline barely in bounds.
That USC WR who caught the ball walked towards the sideline with other players but he stopped just short of the sideline and just stood there while the other 10 guys lined up. The Defense was fooled and thought he'd left the field of play but he didn't....almost but not quite....I'm sure to the defense they couldn't tell he still was inbounds.
Only recently BT. Fumblerooski was outlawed 4 or 5 years ago, and personally I thought it was the wrong thing to do. I don't agree with trying to take deception out of football. But the play in question was legal till last year I believe. I see if I can find the exact rule. Having a guy stand over there in itself is not illegal if I remember correctly it all has to do with how he got there.
Datel line: October 21st 2018... The play action pass has now been outlawed by the NCAA as being deceptive to the defense. When will it end???
First of all, this is just idiotic. Robbie Parris went to the LOS and lined up. He didn't pretend to be on the sidelines. He didn't stand with his back to the play. He wasn't in motion. He was on the field on 3rd down and lined up as a wide out when the team came to formation.
Wait a minute Corey, are you telling me that the Pac 10 office is wrong in what they said? That the officials didn't make a mistake?
I think the issue is how he got there, if he was in a huddle and lines up way over there I don't think it's a problem. If he's with a personell group that is leaving the field and they continue off the field and he doesn't and then lines up that's a penalty.
That must be what happened Terry. I'm hard pressed to believe that the league office would make that announcement for a game they had already won if it wasn't so. Interesting.
Parris was in the game on 3rd down. There was no huddle to break as the FG team took the field directly. So yes Bill, I am saying they got it wrong. In fact, I disagree with the Pac10 offices quite often. I think their Admins are a bunch of boobs.l BTW, I just watched a kid for Arizona State tonight essentially get a personal foul for hitting someone too hard. It makes me wonder if the P in Pac10 stands for Pacific for something else..
I want to know when the term "boob" was associated with something bad. You strive all your teenage life to get close to one or two and then learn that it's something bad!
Sorry Corey I'm not buying that when one of the major conferences have time to study films, discuss the situation then release a statement on the officiating being wrong that they've made a mistake. That just doesn't compute. Not that the officials can't make a mistake, but that the office would release that kind of statement and then be wrong.
By the way, my comments here in no way reflect on Notre Dame. In the first place the game is over and S. Cal won, even if Notre Dame won it wouldn't reflect on them. I believe that after having that much time to review I doubt the league office is wrong.
