Bill's a happy camper. I did watch the UF/LSU game. UF defense is awesome. I thought the game would end 6-0 LSU, but as soon as those LsU linebackers got injured, UF turned up the heat and took total control of the game on both sides of the ball. After the suprisingly easy win for So. Car over UGA, I'd say that So. Car/UF game looms very large.
This was a good ol' Defensive brawl. Those injuries obviously had something to do with their ability to stop the run late in the game, but I'm not so sure Florida wouldn't have pulled it out, anyway. LSU's offense continues to struggle, and you really can't expect to win very many games when you can only put two FGs on the board. Congrats, Bill. (and you, too, Dave.)
Thanks guys, and Don I would have to say the same to you about the OSU rout of Nebraska. We were happy campers in the stands. I felt we had a chance, but I didn't expect us to dominate the second half like we did. Great day to be a Gator.
I had a big ( literally and figuratively ) LSU fan sitting next to me and just before the 85 yard UF TD drive to go up 7-6 I mentioned that I thought his defense looked pretty flat footed and gassed. I told him we were playing "Willy Ball" and I saw it begin in the first half when UF was pounding Gilleslee at the LSU offensive line and running WR sweeps alternately mostly to no avail but it was taking it's toll on the Tiger defense because of the physicality of the Florida offensive line. That seems to be our approach..... sort of a "run and stun" if you will. In the end the LSU 18 game regular season winning streak was history and "Willy Ball" prevailed.
I was trying to watch 2 games at the same time. While the Gator-LSU game was a titanic defensive struggle, the Ariz.-Stanford game was an offensive shootout. Very impressed with the Gators defense. They made a bad LSU offense look terrible. You had to like the way that they ran over the Tiger D in the second half. With the fall of Ark. and the Gator victory it certainly shows that the SEC is at least balanced if not deeper in the East. Oh, and Ariz and Stanford both have very good QBs. I thought that Matt Scott of Ariz. threw some great passes yesterday.
