Dow at over 18,000 Gas at under 2.50 Unemployment under 8% Bin Laden dead No new wars in his two terms Interest rates still low Real Estate making a comeback Stable financial markets I don't post on here anymore because I'm one voice against everyone else it seems but let's say the GOP were to win the next presidential election and those numbers given above all went askew..... again.... like they did during the George W Bush years. Would Obama get the blame post presidency or would the Dems in congress get the blame? Would the new GOP regime accept the blame? Should I expect all of those things to get even better if the GOP wins? I am particularly interested in the GOP candidate that refrains from Rush Limbaugh type bombastic criticism of Obama care in debates, etc. but rather offers up some feasible health care plan of his own. Is there any such GOP animal?
I'm not going to make a detailed response, I thought that the midterm elections were the appropriate response to the great successes of the Obama administration. However, the claim that unemployment is under 8% is completely misleading. In actuality it's double that. http://www.forbes.com/sites/louisefron/2014/08/20/tackling-the-real-unemployment-rate-12-6/ The price of gas as we all know is dependent on the worldwide price of oil. It's great that Obama has brought the price of oil down not only in the US but all over the world. Finally, as to interest rates we hear time and again that the Fed is waiting to see signs of a strong economic recovery before they raise rates. They've been waiting years and haven't raised rates. In effect they're saying "if you think the economy has improved during the Obama administration, you're full of ****."
Oh I forgot, as to the "no new wars" he qualifies for the Neville Chamberlain award. It's too late but Bruce Jenner could be the body part donor that he's been looking for. The "red line' he drew against Assad showed his complete lack of fortitude.
You're right Gipper in that high interest rates only work for those that can afford it. With the redistribution of income that has occurred in this country and stagnant wages interest rates may never rise again.
First written in 2008 when gas prices really started going through the roof and actually helped to fuel the financial collapse of GM and Chrysler and subsequently the loss of my job and me relocating to Florida: http://www.globalresearch.ca/perhaps-60-of-today-s-oil-price-is-pure-speculation/8878
At market close on Jan. 21st 2009 ( Obama's inauguration day ) the Dow Jones closed at 8228.00 up 279 or 3 % on the day and the Nasdaq closed at 1507 up 66 or 4% on the day. Kind of a sign of things to come as the Dow is now over 18,000 and the Nasdaq over 5,000 Give credit to whomever or whatever you like but that's pretty damn good performance over the past 6.5 years. The GOP candidates are going to have to somehow say they can and will do better..... somehow.... Ah what the heck.... let's talk Benghazi and Obamacare.
 The Obama presidency is the greatest disaster for the American people since the pre Civil War presidents: Pierce and Buchanan. The damage is so great, that it's hard to calculate and much of it will continue for decades... 1. By pulling the troops out too quickly in the Middle East, that area of the globe now faces a catastrophe of biblical proportions. Every nation in that region is now at war with enemies from without and within and all face possible annihilation from Iran. The wars that had been won, are now lost. The friends that had been made are now lost as well. Nobody trusts America. From Saudi Arabia, to Israel; from Afghanistan to Yemen; from Libya to Iraq; nobody trusts President Pantywaiste anymore. The man is incapable of telling the truth. 2. America's young people have been left holding the bag. When I was a teenager in the 1960's, there were entry level jobs for all. Our nation's black youth actually held more jobs than white kids. These stepping stones to a better life had been a right of passage for generations of young Americans, and now all that is gone. The kids have been replaced by the largest wave of illegal immigrants in our history, with predictable results. The illegals are a lot easier to control than the kids. They've been quickly organized into large voting blocks, with demands for a "living wage" of $15 to $28 per hour, with promises of more to come. They're being issued driver's licenses at the same time the voter laws are being changed to require "instant" registration and voting simply by showing identification at the polls. The young people have been replaced...Chicago style...by more reliable voting blocks at the same time they're being asked to pay for government workers retirements which can only be sustained by higher and higher tax burdens. 3. The majority of Americans are now on public assistance or receiving some kind of government check. The economy hasn't seen employment numbers like these since Great Depression times. The Participation Rate for American workers is now under 60% the last time I looked which is the lowest of all-time and simply means that most people have given up looking for work. They just take their government handouts along with everyone else. 4. Our nation's military is now just a shell of it's former self, at a time when we're going to need to defend ourselves. The Navy is the smallest it's been since before WWI, with plans to shrink it even further. The aircraft carrier force is set to shrivel to just SEVEN ships, with ZERO new submarines on the drawing board. With those numbers, we may be able to defend Santa Barbara against all comers. The situation in the Air Force is even more discouraging. BOTH the Russians and the Chinese are producing new aircraft that will give them air superiority in future battles and that information comes from our own generals. We haven't faced that situation since before I was born... It's good to know that some people are happy about our current state of the nation. I didn't even mention little things like our schools and infrastructure falling apart...or illegals now being flown in at tax payers expense...or cops being treated like criminals as murdering thugs are given parades... This used to be a nation of laws. The president's oath of office even requires him to "faithfully execute the law"...even the ones he doesn't agree with...but all that has changed. Welcome to the United States of Chicago.
I will follow Jim's outline. 1.Obama has created the staging area for the likely start of WWIII, first by pulling out of Iraq too soon, then by destabilizing Libya, Egypt and Syria and finally by sitting back and doing next to nothing the last two years. He has provided ISIS with precious time to not only expand their power exponentially but to take back Iraq and half of Syria. 2. I have been advertising an entry level position for my company for three months. No experience necessary. Learn from the ground up. The starting wage is $13.00 / hr plus bennies. I have gotten next to no applicants in the 18-23 year old age group. All I get are displaced professionals with big obligations and at least one college degree. What does that tell you? 3. Depression and back pain. The two undisputed pillars of a successful disability claim. They cannot be disproved conclusively. 46 million on food stamps. 93 million out of the work force. Our unfunded pension, social security and healthcare obligations are believed to be in excess of $70 trillion dollars. 4. Military capabilities at an all time low when threats are at an all time high. Commander in Chief ignorant and/or disinterested in the topic. I would add that race relations in our country are the worst I have ever seen in my 61 years . The plight of the blacks has deepened to the point of no return as multiple generations of AAs have never worked or known a nuclear family structure and are now like pigs at the trough, not knowing any other way to survive. And this under a half black president!
Jim and George, you of course realize that none of the terrible signs of decline that you mention count since the Stock Market is over 18,000. Speaking about the younger generation and the burden that they have to carry, it's awful what's happened to today's college students. One of the first things that the Obama administration did was to take over the student loan business. While business were struggling, reorganizing, and downsizing in 2009 and the years thereafter, universities were continuing on their merry way. They didn't have to take any austerity measures and in fact just continued to raise tuitions. How could they do that? Simple, the government just continued to raise the amount of loans that students could take out. We now have kids leaving college with tremendous debt. Take a look at the donations to Obama's campaign by schools such as Cal Berkeley as they make their kickbacks. (Just like the loans to frauds like Solyndra) The circle will be complete when they "forgive" the payoffs which were never intended to help the kids anyway.
Today's world of social media and politically motivated blogs and pundits carrys with it the potential for so much mistruths and slated opinions I have given up trying to sort through all of the ********. Here is one for instance: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/may/22/facebook-posts/was-ronald-reagans-record-black-unemployment-bette/ And another one: http://www.politifact.com/georgia/statements/2015/may/04/david-perdue/sen-perdue-overstates-real-reduction-us-armed-forc/ Love these truths.... Here's an observation.... I'll bet military spending was way up in 2003 when W had us invading and then destabilizing Iraq because of mysteriously elusive WMDS.
Re: Military Have no fear.....1 motivated hardchargin', bloodsucking U.S. Marine and his M-16 is worth a kill to killed ratio of 12 to 1.
So MCG do any of those propaganda sites that you rely upon discuss the "summer of recovery" when Obama was "laser focused" on the economy? Did they talk about the Unaffordable Healthcare Act? Did they discuss how we could watch the debates about the bill on CSPAN. How about keeping our doctors if we wanted? How about saving $2,500 a year on healthcare insurance? Do they remember the video that cause the attack on Benghazi? How about the stimulus bill that when passed would keep unemployment from going over 8%? Oh my, it sounds like I'm blaming Obama!!!!
Gipper you highlight what is sure to be the main substance of every GOP candidate's attacks to come on the Dems..... Obamacare and Benghazi. If they think that's enough I feel they are making a big mistake. New direction with fresh ideas would be more effective than the same ol same ol harsh criticisms and vitriolic rhetoric.
It's not the event, tt's the lies. But the left is so arrogant they don't care about the truth. If they have to lie it doesn't matter as long as their version of the world comes to fruition. You're above post whined about alleged untruths. When I pointed out some of the large volume of lies we've been handed by the administration, your predictable reaction is, "that doesn't matter." Just the new America devoid of integrity.
Lies are sometimes lies only in the eye of the beholder.... or the party that wants them to be dastardly lies. I don't have the time or energy to go through just what lies and truth stretching went on during the Bush years but you can be assured there were plenty. When you have nothing new or innovative or productive to offer up you can get hung up on how the the other guy lied.... They did that in 2000 and I'll bet they will do that this time around.
This is how the "fresh ideas" of the left become the law of the land. http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2014/11/10/obamacare-architect-yeah-we-lied-to-the-stupid-american-people-n1916605 And as I recall some here bought it because they were the target group.
