I'm barely aware of the "Draddy" which is the academic Heisman Trophy. One of the leading candidates is Ryan McDonald of Illinois, he is their starting center. What is impressive is that Ryan in addition to being and excellent student, he's doing it with an Aerospace Engineering major and he's made the Engineering Deans List every semester. Now that's impressive!! Not many athletes at major colleges major in Engineering because of the time you have devote to classes and labs and it's a damn difficult major. Then you toss on all the football stuff. Hat's off to Ryan I hope he wins. Terry It's from the current Ivan Maisel Column on ESPN.
ahem......Craig Krenzel - the 2003 Draddy Award winner. Molecular Genetics! Are you kidding me?
He was supposed to go to Med School wasn't he? I don't blame him for playing a few years in the NFL since the min sal of 400K properly managed would pay for a lot of Med School and not leave him with a mountain of debt when he's finished. I'm sure all of the guys who are up for that award are taking tough majors....well except for Chase Daniel who is a sissy business major!!
